A Months Notice

Chapter Thirteen

Katherine walked behind Jack to the dining hall .

Katherine's mother sat next to Katherine's father .

Jack pulled the chair then pushed it in for Katherine.

Medda , being the social butterfly that she is broke the ice. "So did you two sleep okay ?" Medda asked .

"Yes , it was rather cold though " Katherine said smiling back at Medda .

Katherine really liked Medda . Meddas was the type of mother Katherine always wanted but never had and soon her parents would be gone and soon Medda would be with her . Katherine would probably be closer to Medda then anyone in the world . Medda was just a friendly person !

Medda could always bring a smile to Katherine's face . She would always tell her she looked so beautiful. And always asked her ,her opinion. Medda had even taken Katherine shopping one day to look for some gowns .

"How was your mom ?" Jack asked noticing Katherine's first real smile .

"Very similar. It's been very cold here ..... I should see if they put the thermostat on " Medda said .

"Katherine ?" Her mother asked .
Quickly Jack looked at Victoria . His blue eyes growing black .

"May I speak with out after breakfast?" She asked rather rudely .

"Actually Katherine and I have plans " Jack said not wanting Katherine anywhere near that woman .

"But I need to speak with her " Victoria said .

"I understand that but it's very important. How about when we're done ? Katherine can meet you in the tea room ?" Jack said .

"Very well . I'll see you then . Joseph and I fly out tomorrow morning " Victoria said .

Victoria glared angrily at Jack . Jack put his hand on Katherine's . Her hand laid on her lap . He rubbed his thumb across her hand twice and went back to his meal .

Why did Jack just do that ?
Why does he care ?
He then rubbed my hand with his thumb ?
That's something people do when they are well married .... And we're married . But it's not married like an happily ever after. We're married like its a business deal .... My cheek is still sore ... So is the rest of me . Jacks body weight really did crush me last night ! I mean he's all muscle ! And that's heavier than fat !!!!! .... I think . But still . And we have to lay together again tonight ?
I mean he was kind enough to sleep on the couch ... The again he may have been watching television and brought a blanket so he wouldn't be cold ! Medda said something about the cold . Maybe he was just cold ! He was probably just cold !

"Katherine dear ? Are you alright ? You've barley touched your food " Medda said putting her hand atop of Katherine's that laid on the table in a motherly fashion .

"Katherine's always been like that . She doesn't eat much ... Unlike her brothers ! Those boys would eat the whole country if the had the time " Joseph said .

"Katherine? You look pale .... If you excuse us I'll be taking her to go lie down " Medda said .

"I'll come with you " Jack said trying to get far away from Victoria .

"No dear , you eat your food I'm full I'll take care " medda said to Jack .  Jack nodded and Medda took Katherine.

Medda brought her to a small room with a couch . Medda placed her hand atop of Katherine's head .

"No fever "
"I'm fine I was just thinking "
"About ?"
"Nothing "
"You don't need to worry Katherine. I won't tell anyone . Not your mother . Your father . Or Jack . Whatever you tell me stays on this room I promise "
"My head is reeling . I'm trying to keep track of everything . There's so many customs and traditions I don't even understand . I'm so young . And I'm queen and there's all this pressure . And I need to do this and that and have a baby -"

"Woah , who said anything about a baby ?" Medda asked holding her shoulders.

"I just figured... You know we're married and people will riot -" Katherine said looking down .

"No, your still so young . Jack , hey, if he wants a baby you two can talk about that but we're not pressuring you two have a baby at all ... Parliament might .... Hey , I'm not forcing you two to have a baby . If parliament does them I'm sorry but I won't cry if a baby doesn't shoot out of you tomorrow. "

"Really ?" Katherine said so happy from Meddas response .

"Of course. Katherine.... Your 15. Your barley old enough to drive  let alone run a country and be a mother . It takes times... I know that .... If you ever need someone .... To talk to ... Let me know . Anytime we're in the room you can tell me anything and I won't spill"

"Thank you so much Medda ."

"You're welcome . Now let's get back shall we ?" Medda suggested .

The two walked back and Victoria and Joseph were there sitting across from Jack .

Thankfully nothing had happened .

"Are you okay ?" Joseph asked as Katherine sat down .

"I'm fine " Katherine said . Jack looked at her and back and Medda . Medda always could make some feel better .

"That's a relief... " Jack said smiling at his mother . She smiled back and they went back to small talk and all . Things like the weather and if the diamond trade would ever go up again .

Once breakfast was done Medda volunteered to show Joseph and Victoria around the palace .

"What are we doing that's important ?" Katherine asked once they had left .

"Nothing . I just didn't want you to see your mother . I think it's best you stay away from her .... For a while " Jack said taking a sip of coffee.

"Jack -"
"No , it's what's best -"
"Jack .... She won't hurt me like that ... She's going to apologize.... I think "
"You think ?" Jack asked .
"Well ... Sometimes she says sorry ... Sometimes she checks in on me " Katherine said .

"Well .... "
"So can I go see my mother ?" Katherine asked
"If you wish . I'm not going to deprive you of your family .... Just be careful " Jack said
"I will be ... We'll be in the tea room "
"Okay " Jack then grabbed her hand and kissed it .

Jack .

Jack was standing outside the tea room .

Currently Victoria and Katherine where talking . Katherine didn't know he was there but just incase.

He heard a gasp . He put his ear closer to the door . Then laughter .
Some rattling . Some yelling . Some name calling

"Te figyelj te kurva ! Én vagyok a főnök ! Tehát akkor figyelj rám ! Soha nem interput meg újra! vagy akkor fizet nagyban!"  Was yelled loudly .

Jack opened the door and Katherine was on the floor near her chair . Water all over her . And a new pink cheek .

"Katherine? Oh god ! Are you okay ?" Jack asked bending down to her level .

"She's fine , she spilled the water " Victoria said

"Yeah , sure " Jack said back .

"What's that supposed to mean ?!" Victoria said

"I'm sure that's what must have happened . If you don't mind I'm going to take Katherine to go get cleaned up " Jack said helping Katherine up and walking out the door .
