A week later.

Alex’s POV

It was times like these when I really needed Alisha to talk me through what was going on with Benji. I wanted to just scream and cry about everything he had put me through again, but there was no one on the other end to tell me what to do after I let it all out. I decided to go for a drive and somehow I ended up at the cemetery. I parked and walked over to Alisha’s headstone.

It read: “Ali had a smile that could brighten a room, a loving mother, wife, sister, and friend whom we will miss forever.”

I sat down in the grass in front of her headstone.

“Hey Ali.” I said with tears in my eyes. “I miss you so much. I still can’t believe that you’re gone.” I let a single tear fall. “I don’t know what to do Alisha, it happened again.” I knew I didn’t have to specify. If she was sitting right in front of me she would automatically know what I was talking about. “I walked out on him again. I know that it’s Eliza, how do I compete with her? My love for him doesn’t seem to ever be enough. I am lost. I wish you were here to talk me through it and give me the advice that always used to fix me… I just need a sign.”

It started to get windy and I wrapped my jacket tighter around me. Suddenly the wind stopped. I looked up and there he stood.

“I knew you would be here.” He sat down next to me.

“Hey sis. I know I haven’t been to visit much, but we got our hands full with Jo.” He said to Alisha.

I looked at him confused. “Benji what are you doing here?”

He shrugged. “Honestly I don’t know. I was just driving and somehow I ended up here.”

I turned away from him and smiled, mouthing “Thank you.” to Alisha.

I stood up. “Well I’m gonna go.”

He stood up. “Wait, do you want to grab lunch or something?”

“Benji, do you really think that’s a good idea? I mean were not in the best place right now and you’re with Eliza.”

He sighed. “It’s just lunch Alex, and I think we need to talk.”

I gave in. “Okay. I’ll meet you at Ruby’s in an hour.”

He laughed. “You want to drive all the way to Huntington for lunch?”

I smiled. “Actually I have to pick up Clementine from Gena and Zacky’s. So I figured we could just go there, you know your favorite?”

“Okay. I’ll drive.” He started to walk towards his car.

“Benj, I have my car.”

He shook his head. “I’ll have Linzi come pick it up. What’s the point of taking two cars down there and I already have a seat for Clementine.”

“So do I. Remember?”

“Right.” He smiled nervously. “Well, either way it doesn’t make sense to take two cars. I can drive, or you can. Whatever.”

“How about we compromise. You can drive my car.” I laughed.

He nodded and I handed him the keys.

We pulled into the parking garage about an hour later. I was used to walking the streets of Huntington with Benji. There was always so much going on that hardly anyone ever recognized him. We went up the elevator and were soon crossing the busy street to walk on the pier. Ruby’s was at the very end of the Pier. Sometimes we used to just grab a coffee and walk to one of the benches and sit down watching the sunset. I always enjoyed the simple things with Benji. Him being a famous musician meant nothing to me, I love him for the silly guy he was. Lost in my own thoughts I hadn’t realized that we were already at the door to go inside.
