Alisha’s POV

I walked over to Brian who was playing around with the guys. Everything had seemed to work itself out and I was happy for that, but I didn’t want anyone to ruin what was going on with Brian and Mandy. They were in a good place and that’s where they needed to stay no matter what.

“Hey Ali. What’s going on?”

“I know you’re not going to like this, but we all saw it coming tonight.”

He looked at me worriedly. “What? You’re freaking me out.”

I gestured to the other side of the room where Michelle sat with some random guests.

“Shit. I’ll go find Mandy.” I nodded and he walked off. I started cleaning up a bit. It seemed like the more I straightened up the more people made a mess, but it was a party and I was going to try my best to have fun even if Joel was here.

I went upstairs to check on Robin, but I walked in to see her fast asleep in Joel’s arms while he sang to her. He hadn’t noticed me yet, but I heard the simple words that made me realize why I loved him so much.

“I don’t wanna live this life without you, I don’t wanna spend a night without you, I don’t wanna know what its like. I can’t dream without you. Flowers for your hair and rainbows for your eyes to see, your dreams are everywhere; they’ll carry you away from me…”

I knew that I couldn’t keep him away from her, but I never wanted this life for her. I walked in and sat with him.

“Alisha, we can’t be apart like this we need to be together. I’m sorry ok? I never wanted to hurt you I’m sorry for all the things that I did.”

“I know you’re sorry. I know you never wanted to hurt me.”

“Alisha, you have to believe me, I don’t know how many times I can apologize to you.” I couldn’t listen to him apologize to me anymore. It didn’t matter how sorry he was or how much we loved each other, in my eyes it just couldn’t work anymore.

“Aren’t you tired of that Joel? You shouldn’t have to apologize for who you are. Not anymore.  I shouldn’t have tried to change you. I’m the one who’s sorry and I’m done trying.”

I stood up and grabbed Robin out of his arms. I went into my room to freshen up and I laid Robin on my bed.

I heard a light knock on my door and Jimmy walked in.

Jimmy’s POV

I sat in Alisha’s room while she was fixing her make – up. It had been a while since we had sat down and talked, and I thought that time to herself was what she needed, but right now I know that she needs me.

“Hey Ali.”

She turned around and looked at me. “Yeah?” She had been holding this fake smile on her face for too long now and it was starting to worry me.

“Um, I’ve been giving you a lot of space, well because I think I know you pretty well and I think that’s what you need. But you know that I’m here for you right?”

“Yes, Jimmy. I know that and I thank you for that, but your friends with Joel too and I don’t want to put you in the middle of everything.” I shook my head and she turned back to doing her make-up.

I went and stood behind her. “No. No. Yes I am friends with Joel, but you are my best friend and my little sister and if you need me you better put me in the middle of everything.”

She smiled, but a sincere one this time followed by a tear.  “Thank you Jimmy. I will talk to you. I promise but right now I need to get back downstairs and when I am sure I can talk about everything I will talk to you.”
