Why we were chosen.

Chapter 13

Lauren's POV

"Ugh! One thing that I didn't miss was this heat." I complained once Alyssa and I had landed. We were standing outside of the airport waiting for Camila to pick us up. She was over an hour late and we had been sitting at the curb waiting for her ass.

"Call her again!" She groaned, resting her head on one of her suitcases.

"No. What if she's driving? I don't want her to talk on the phone instead of focusing on the road." I argued before reaching over at the small cage beside me. I opened the gate and pulled the small iguana into my hand. I was beyond excited to show him to Camila. Alyssa reached over and pet its head.

"You know, you're not the only one who got a new pet this week." Alyssa scrolled through her phone before turning it to me. "Amy got a Dalmatian puppy and named him Fingers."

"Fingers? What kind of name is that?" I chuckled and shook my head. It's not much of a shock that she would name anything such a ridiculous name. I can only pray for her child's name.

"I have no idea, but it has a nice ring to it." She smiled before taking the reptile out of my hands. "I think Camila is going to be even more scared of him knowing his name is Killer." Alyssa chuckled just as we heard a honk and a black car pulling up to us. This was definitely not Camila.

"Well, she has to get used to him." I placed Killer back into the cage and stood up when I recognized the car as Dinah's.

"Hey!" She squealed when she saw us. She gave us a long hug before helping us place everything into her trunk.

"Did Camz forget or something?" I questioned her. She grabbed the small cage and made a disgusted face.

"Ew, what is this thing?" She examined Killer.

"That's Killer, our new pet. Answer my question." I took the cage from her hands and sat in the passengers seat with the cage on my lap.

"No, she didn't forget." She started the car and started to drive, a bit faster than my liking. "She is just taking care of your surprise Laur. So she asked me to pick you up." I nodded my head in understanding. We had started conversation about what we did and where we went. She was glad to hear that Sofi was fine, but she admitted that she missed the young girl. Heck, even I was going to miss her. She had undoubtedly grown on me.

"And this is your stop." I thanked her as she helped place my bags on the door step. When she drove away I was excited. What kind of surprise did Camila have for me? I hope it's what i'm thinking because I am a bit frustrated because it's been a while since we were intimate. I bit my lip at the thought. I knew my parents were currently out somewhere and I knew they weren't going to be home for a couple of hours so it would be perfect for us to catch up. Just the thought made me smile. I rang the doorbell and waited for an answer. After a few minutes there was no answer. I continued to ring, but no answer. I dialed Camila's phone, but I received the same response. Is she not home?

Deciding that I wasn't going to wait any longer I grabbed Killer's cage and made my way around to my backyard. The only way I knew how to sneak in was by climbing up the tree that was near the window of our game room. I groaned knowing that it was my only way in. I've only ever climbed this tree once with Amy and Olivia, and after Amy fell and broke her arm I swore I would never climb it again. I sighed before holding tight onto Killer's cage and started climbing. It was harder to climb while holding a cage in my hand.

Now that I think about it, why didn't I just leave him in front of our backdoor, no one can steal him from there. I felt bad because I would viciously shake the cage when I needed to throw my arm up to grab onto a branch that was above my head. After a long struggle I finally reached the branch that was beside the window. There was still a long jump from the branch to the roof.
