After a little while of running away from the pedophile freaks, Shadow and Maria lost them and stopped running in an alley out of breath panting for air.
Shadow:I think we lost them.
Maria:Let's just...wait here till its sure enough that it's safe to come out of hiding.
Shadow:Yeah, that's a good idea.
Maria: Oh yeah...thank you so much for saving me from those guys, I don't know how I can repay you
Shadow:No problem, you don't need to do that. I couldn't let them do that to you.
Maria:Wait...you're Shadow right?
Shadow:Yep that's right
Maria:I always hear that you're always following me everywhere including at the park spying on me.
Shadow: Oh....I...ummm
Shadow: Uh oh...I'm so busted.
Shadow:Yeah...those rumors are true...I'm sorry you probably think I'm a stalker...I can stop that if you want me to
Maria: Oh you don't have to do that I don't think you're a stalker
Shadow:Really, you mean it?
Maria: Of course not, you just wanna be my friend but you're too shy and afraid that I might not like you. But you don't have to think that way anymore, cause we can be friends and hang out with each other and maybe I can teach you the song you love to listen. Take it as a repayment for saving me. You're okay with that right?
Shadow was shocked, since he wasn't expecting Maria to be so nice that me. This was the COMPLETE opposite of what he had in mind how Maria would react. He thought Maria would've been so disguisted to him and wouldn't want him to see her again. Instead he got exactly what he wanted.
Shadow:Yeah...I'm okay with that, it's great.
Maria: Okay good, from now on we're officially friends.
Shadow:Yep, anyway do you want me to walk you home? Those idiots might still be looking for us and I don't want that happening.
Maria:Yes that would be wonderful,I was actually about to ask you that
Shadow:Alright then let's go
In front of Maria's house
The two kids made it to the house without being spotted by the monkey and dog in one piece, guess they must've given up.
Shadow: Is this the place?
Maria:Yes, thanks again Shadow
Shadow:You're welcome Maria
Maria: Do you wanna stay at my house for the night? It won't be fair for you to walk alone while the boys are looking for you
Shadow: No its okay you don't have to do that, I don't wanna be a burden to you and your family. And plus if they show up at my face I can take them down easily, you saw me fight after all
Maria: Yeah I guess you're right. You were pretty strong back there. Well I guess this is goodbye. You wanna meet me back here so we can go out for ice cream or something at 2:00?
Shadow: I can't believe this is not a dream! She's finally asking me out...well sort of but whatever!
Shadow: Sure, that'll be awesome. And maybe after that you can train with my master too so you can defend yourself in case more bad people want to hurt you.
Maria: Sweet, that's a good idea. It's settled then, see you tomorrow Shadow.
Shadow: Right, bye Maria
Maria ran inside her house safe and sound while Shadow started to walk back to his own house
End of flashback, back to the present Shadow and Amy
After he told the story, Shadow had a sad look with tears coming out of his eyes and Amy had a sad look on her face.
Shadow:And now...she's gone...thanks to that stupid car crash that she had to be in for no freaking reason. And ever since then I used to shut myself away from people including women.
Amy: She sounds like she was a wonderful person and I'm sorry for your loss. At least you have Shannon.
Shadow:Yeah, when Shannon came into my life my heart opened up again.
Amy:That's very sweet. But wait...how did you have Shannon when you didn't date a women bat?
Shadow:Well ummm
Shannon: Daddy, is Maria my mommy
Amy and Shadow turned around to see Shannon hiding behind a tree with tired looking eyes as she rubs them with her tiny hand.
Amy:You were standing there this whole time listening to that story
Shannon:Yes, I'm sorry. I just wanna know where you and daddy are and I don't wanna be alone
Shadow:It's alright hun
Shannon: So is Maria my mommy?
Shadow:No...she died before I have you as my daughter.
Shannon: Okay daddy...do you know where my mommy is?
Shadow:...No...she's still nowhere to be found...
Shadow: I hate lying to my daughter, but I can't let her find out she'll be completely mad a me
Shannon had a sad look with her ears lowered.
Shannon: Okay daddy...
Shadow: Don't be sad...we won't give up, we will find her someday
Shannon:Yeah...
Amy:We should just get some sleep, that will make us all feel better
Shadow:Yeah you're right Amy
Shannon: Okay Ames...
Shannon and the hedgehogs went to sleep so they can go back home tomorrow...but I don't think so...as a black figure standing on one of the branches of a tree and landed softly on the ground. She quietly picked up Shannon without waking up Amy and Shadow and flew off with her.
