Until eternity

Whispers

I start to hear whispers and I think I'm dreaming again. I'm so tired though that I don't bother to open my eyes to see if someone is here or if in fact it is a dream.

"They look so peaceful, I don't want to wake them."

That's when I realize its Zoe's voice. She must be talking to Nahko, I mean who else would it be.

 I pretend to stay asleep because I'm curious, plus its a bit awkward, me and Theo here passed out together on the couch. 

I peek my eyes open and realize me and Theo have somehow ended up lying on the couch, me wrapped in his arms under a blanket. 

I keep my calm as I continue to listen to their conversation.

Zoe: You know Nahko, I must say they look lovely together.

Nahko: You know Zoe the old me, would be really jealous right now, but she's one of my dearest friends, and well I agree with you.

Zoe: They must of been wasted to end up here. Not that I'm assuming anything happened, but Shai would never......

Nahko: Yah, i know what you mean. He has a girlfriend right? 

Zoe: Yep he does

Nahko: What a shame, they fit you know. Like water to a flower. 

Zoe: What do you mean?

Nahko: You know, soul mates. I could tell the moment I saw them together. The way they look at each other, the way they move. Like magnets. Their ora around each other is...well...rare

Zoe: Dang Nahko, I didn't know you where so deep. But you know I agree with you, I can't believe you've only been around them one day and you see it to.

Nahko: So you noticed huh. 

Zoe: She would kill me if I told you, but yah, its been kind of hard for her being around him. The way they are, its like they've known each other for a lifetime. She worries that she oversteps her friendship sometimes because he has Ruth. She is a sweet girl too, and has been so nice to Shai and all of us. 

Nahko: They haven't.....

Zoe: No no no, they haven't done anything, but he is so attentive to her, and protective. Its sweet, and a rare friendship.

Nahko: You know what they say Zoe, Soul mates aren't always lovers.

Theo POV

I've been listening to Zoe and Nahko's conversation pretending to be asleep, and well I had no idea Shai was feeling this way about our friendship, and to hear them talk about the way me and her are. I guess I knew all this time, but was in denial about it. She is a rare gem, and well....I don't know what to think about their conversation. Does everyone notice the way we are. Do they care. What if Ruth finds out, and gets the wrong Idea. Mostly what if Shai isn't asleep and only pretending to be, and has heard their entire conversation. She is gonna be so worried, especially if she knows I'm only pretending to be sleeping now

Shai POV

I can't believe Zoe told Nahko that, and I can't believe Nahko agrees with her. What am I getting myself into. I just want to dissappear right about now. How am I suppose to deal with all this, and what if Theo has heard this whole conversation. He has to have, he can't be that passed out. I feel my heart start to race, and am fixing to open my eyes when I feel Theo pulling me closer. In that moment I know he isn't asleep, and I know he feels my nervousness.

Zoe: Well are we just gonna stand here and keep whispering about them or are we going to wake them up.

Nahko: You do it, I feel like a stalker standing over them like this. 

Zoe: hahaha fine.  GOOD MORNING GOOD MORNING MY LIL ALCOHOLICS

At the same time Theo and I take a deep breath, and confirms my worst fear, he heard it all. I start to get up slowly, saying "How the heck did yall get in here?" Trying to play cool.

Theo opens his eyes and stretches out his arms while saying "Are you guys burglars on the side, braking into peoples places."

Zoe and Nahko both start laughing, and Zo says no you Ass, Shai you left your jacket at my place, and I grabbed it to bring to you. We where knocking on your door forever, and you guys wouldn't come answer, so I checked your pockets, and well your key was in it.

Nahko tells us they let themselves in because they wanted to make sure we weren't dead or anything. We all laugh with that comment.

Anyways Zoe says, we came to see if yall want to grab some dinner. 

Dinner! What time is it I say. Um Shai it is 5:00. You mean to tell me you guys have been passed out all this time, Zoe says.

Theo jumps in, No, we both slept a few hours, but woke up with headaches, and well we had some tea, and started watching TV and must of past out on the couch. We had only slept a couple of hours before we both started feeling shitty.

I look over at Theo, and am thankful he answered. Anyway I say, I am starving what did yall have in mind.

Italian, Nahko says. I look over at Theo, and we both at the same time say, "Hell yah, that sounds good." I get a bit embarrassed and Theo winks at me, just a little reassurance not to worry."

Nahko and Zoe both start laughing, and me and Theo say "What." That, that right there you guys are like on the same wave length. DO you always say the same things, at the same time. 

Zoe jumps in, all the time! Theo clears his throat and heads to his room screaming give him 10 mins.  Nahko and Zoe, are just smiling at me, and I shake me head and turn to go to my room.

I'm standing in my closet when I hear Zoe calling my name. "I'm in here" I yell. She comes strolling in as I'm pulling on my jeans.

Sooo Shai, how was your night. I start laughing, and tell her. "How was your night." She skips over to me and pulls me into a hug. She is gushing about how great Nahko is and starts to give me details when Theo walks in.

"Geez girls enough with the gossip, this guys gotta eat. I come around Zoe and tell him to hold his horses we are talking, and I notice his eyes are big, and his cheeks are turning red. 

I realize I am standing in my bra and jeans. Crap! I totally forgot. I try to play it off, and tell him five more minutes. He just clears his throat and walks out the closet.

I turn and Zoe has her hand over her mouth and I can tell she wants to start laughing. Before she can say anything I tell her. "I know I know, I totally forgot I didn't have my shirt on yet, but you came in here and we started talking." 

Besides its not like he hasn't seen me.......What! is all Zoe says. OMG Zo long story short Theo came into my bathroom just as I stepped out of the shower and yep he saw me. End of discussion, lets go I'm starving. 

With that Zo just loops our arms together and we head out of my closet.
