Chapter 75:My darling

Itami pov
I woke up & found myself lying on my bed. I sat up, and immediately felt that my throat was on fire.

'Damn....I over did it with the Siren scream.'

I tried saying a word, but only came out as a wheeze & gasp.

'Fuck, I can't even talk. If I try to day something, it'll hurt like bat shit. Maybe I shouldn't talk for the day...it might damage my vocal cords.'

I stood up, and went over to the infirmary. I knew for a fact that Ace was definitely in there, since Teach had drained him of his powers, and went unconscious back there. I walked in, and saw only a handful of doctors in the room.

"Hello M'lady Captain! If you're looking for Commander Ace, he's over there. Also, Commander Marco has told me to tell you that after you check on Commander Ace, I have to have a check up on your throat."
I simply nod, and mouthed out a "Thank you." To the nurse.

I went over to where Ace was, and found him on a bed, sleeping. I shut the door behind me, and walked over to Aces bed. I sat down on the chair by the bed, and held Aces hand.

'Oh Ace, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done something as stupid as turning my back on you. I just wanted to find a way out of there. I acted selfishly. I should've helped you out back there...I...I'm sorry.'

I felt tears form. I shut my eyes, and let them slide off my cheeks, and onto Aces hand. I had so badly wanted to sing, but seeing that if I even uttered a word, I would find sleeping to be painful. All I could really do was sit there & weep.

Then, I felt Aces hand twitch. I jumped a little bit, and flung my eyes open. I stared at Ace, and watched him slowly wake up, and open his eyes. He looked around with a bewildered stare.

"What...?"He gasped out
I let out a small happy gasp."Ac-ack!"
Ace looked over at me, and smiled weakly."Itami..you're okay."

I smiled tearfully & nodded. I was about to say something, but found myself clutching my throat. I reminded myself that my voice is still cut off, and that I can't talk just yet.

Ace gave me a curious stare."Itami? Are you okay?"

I saw a erasable pen & paper. I grabbed that, and quickly wrote down a sentence.

"I'm alright, Ace-kun. It's just that I used Siren scream on Teach, and now my voice has been cut off. I don't know for how long though, I only know that it'll come back soon."

I handed the pad to Ace, who quickly skimmed over my elegant handwriting. Ace looked up at me with concern all over his face. He handed the note pad back to me.

"Itami, you know what was going to happen if you used the scream."

I began to write again.

"I know. I get it. But I couldn't just stand by & let him kill you. I was so worried about you Ace..I was afraid that Teach might've killed you."

Ace quickly read the note.

"Yes I know. But..."He sighed, and looked like he was struggling with words."I'm just glad that you're okay."

I smiled & kissed his hand. He chuckled at me with a blush. He moved over, and made me lie down next to him. He turned his body towards me, and started to tickle & caress my face. I smiled, and closed my eyes as his gentle, but warm fingers glided around on my face.

'I love it when he caresses my face like this. I don't know why, but I find it so relaxing, and kade me feel better about things.'

And before I even knew it, I fell asleep.

Ace pov
Itami fell asleep like that. Despite the fact that I felt stiff, I wrapped my arms around Itami, and let her snuggle into me. I kissed her head, and smiled to myself.

'I love you Itami.'

I fell asleep with Itami in my arms.
