Have you ever felt like the world is testing you? That someone far away gets a kick out of watching your reactions? Well I feel like that.

Splashing water on my face, I attempt to ignore the angry glare burning a hole through the back of my head. Taking a deep breath, I hurry out of the bathroom only to be slammed into the lockers.

"Did you not hear me?" I watch her glare at me. Hands on her hips, nose Winkle's in disguist.

"I did."

"You do know who I am." That I'm better than you attitude makes it obvious she has some personal issues. The need to make others think so comes from a lack of self worth.

"I don't."

Her eyes get big and then she frowns. "I'm Jennifer, you beat me boyfriend in a race the other day."

"Oh....what do you want."

"You're ruining his image. He's the fastest guy on the track team. He's what makes our school cross country program any good."

I remain quiet.

"Then you have to go and beat him. He held a record and everything!"

"He didn't seem too worked up about it. He congratulated me and said I should try out."

"I don't care about that! You ruined his unbeatable imagine! So now I need you to admit that you cheated! So they'll respect him again."

"You don't care about you boyfriend do you? If you did you would be more worried about his ego than his Rep. If I had to guess about it, yours is being ruined by him losing that title. So you're mad."

Its funny how her face scrunches up when I hit the nail on the head. Then she gets mad.

"How dare you say that you little Bitch!" She swung her hand my way.
Closing my eyes, I await the impact but it never comes.

Peeking out a little, I see the boyfriend. He's holding back her wrist with a scary look in his eye.

"Really Jenny, I knew you'd react like this."

"She started this. You just came at the wrong time."

"No she didn't Sky isn't the type. Besides, I heard your conversation. What the hell is wrong with you?"

I heave a sigh as she goes on to make up some excuse. This is a good time to make my escape. With that thought, I sneak away quickly and run to the library to hide out the rest of lunch.

Why is it that people love to see me apologize for things I don't have any control over? Well, I suppose I could've let him win, but I don't pull my punches. I just don't. Never have. If I'm gonna run I'm gonna do it with all I have or there's no point.

I push out the thought and grab a book from my bag and take a seat. This particular one I've been meaning to finish, it's about robots taking over an alien planet that's very similar to Earth but instead of people the main inhabitants are talking animals.

About half way through the book, I get the feeling someone's watching me. So I look around and my eyes land on a pair of hazel brown ones. I sigh as he sits in front of me.

"I'm sorry about what Jennifer did." He gives me a sad smile.

I shake my head. "You didn't do anything wrong. Theres no need to apologize."

"Yeah but still. She wasn't always like this. A few years ago, she was a kind person. You would've been the type of person she'd have as a friend. She was always friends with the shy smart people."
