Elliot's laughter subsides, leaving only a tense atmosphere.
I stare at Alex, waiting for her to say something. Anything.
She avoids making eye contact and pretends to be absorbed in petting Melon on his head. But the glances my way say she waiting for a rant.
The longer the silence goes on, the angrier I feel. I bit my lip in hopes of reeling in the words itching to come from my mouth. The only thing stopping me from going off is Elliot. I was raised to not cause a scene in someone else's home.
After five or so minutes of tense silence, Elliot finally speaks in a surprisingly serious tone. "I can assume that you never told her. And you're always getting onto me about lying."
"I wasn't lying. Not telling a secret doesn't make it all a lie. " she mumbles quietly, almost as if she's trying to convince herself rather than him.
I watch them exchange these glances before I heave a sigh. I don't have time to worry about being lied to. I'm the one who assumed she wasn't Cinnamon. Its not as if she directly lied to my face. It was my fault for making assumptions.
Even though I know that, it doesn't make me feel any better. I still feel like she should have told me. Regardless of what she is, I wouldn't have been mad, if she told me. But I can be mad at her later or whatever.
Pushing these emotions down, I turn towards Elliot. "Sorry for barging in, but do you have any idea what's behind the strange snow outside? "
Elliot looks at me with a sad expression before smiling. "No I don't particularly. I assumed you had more info in what's going on here."
I nodded. "Let's say a friend of mine made some enemies that may or may not be able to control snow. "
His eyes widened a fraction. "Snow essence? I had no idea such a thing exists." He closes his eyes for a bit and then starts speaking. "There's a strong cold front moving in from the mountain just outside the town. I would assume that's the cause of the snow. I've talked to others and it seems only our area is inflicted like this. "
A huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. So the world isn't gonna freeze over. Just this town. "So all I gotta do is kick this A-hole in his poop shooter. " Maybe I could try going up there to survey the area and maybe hunt down Lord what's his face.
"No. That's ridiculous! You can't handle him!" Alex stood up and jumped in the conversation, as if she knew what I was thinking. Of course she did. She's been around me for the past two years. She's seen all the stupid stunts I've pulled and all the trouble that comes my way when I don't think things through.
I sighed. "I have to do something about the snow. It's cutoff Kaz's essence. He'll need it to go home and take care of himself."
Her eyebrows twitched, "I know that, but you can't go up there. He's not working alone. That monster and the Queen of bitches are working together. To weaken you and Kaz. Once you guys are weak enough they can kill him without you fighting back and they can take Niko an-"
The moment she mentions Niko a chill runs down my spine. What could he possibly want with a 2 year old? "What does Niko have to do with this? "
"You've never meet a hunter before, but I have. There's a clan of Hunters called Whittler, and they're searching for him. "
Sorry for not updating last week, I went to the Smokey Mnts and the hotel has crappy Wi-Fi. I'm gonna try to update again Wednesday or Thursday and then again. Friday or Saturday.
