"Are you ready?"
Snapping my head up, i see we are already at the gym. I swallow hard. All the excitement from this morning had faded and turned into fear? Or maybe anxiety. What if they are just as mean as everyone else?
"Sky. "
I meet Ziek's hazel orbs. "Relax. They're not monsters....technically. Besides they wanted to meet you. Deep breaths alright?"
I nodded and gave a smile when I was ready. "Lets get this over with."
Ziek returned my smile and pushed the doors open.
His hand found mine and it tugged me behind him. Sitting in a scattered group on the bleechers we're five people. And when Ziek called out to them, five pairs of eyes scrutinized me. Making judgements based on the simplest of facts.
I was never really a firm believer of first impressions, there's no point in judging someone based in how they first seem. Some people just aren't good at dealing with pressure.
When no one speaks immediately, I unconsciously find myself cowarding behind Ziek.
"Okay guys. You've scared her enough."
I snapped my head towards the person that just strolled into the gym. A girl with reddish brown hair tied in a ponytail, sunglasses, a loose unzipped black jacket, black skinny jeans, and a sky blue tank top made her way towards us. Something about her radiated power. Maybe it was the confidence rolling off her or the waves of attention aimed her way.
She stopped a few feet in front of me and then held out her hand. "I'm Alexandra, Alex for short. Nice to finally meet you."
Finally? "I'm Haven." I grip her hand and then a smile spreads across her face.
"I know. You've been her for almost 7 months now. And you've already managed to piss off the queen of bitches."
A smile came to my face. She's talking about Jenifer. Queen of bitches. You know I haven't heard anything so aptly named before. "Yeah that's how it usually works for me."
"Well don't worry about it. You're amongst friends here."
Ziek spoke before I could. "She doesn't do the whole friend thing."
Alex raised an eyebrow. 'Really? Then why you two holding hands?"
I felt my cheeks blaze with heat. Looking down, I realized our hands are still connected. Oh my God. Rumors will definitely spread now. I will never have another peaceful day like this again. The Queen of bitches and her minions will foreverly torture me.
Someone's laughter brought my attention back to the situation. I hastily pulled my hand away from Ziek and faced the laughing dude. His green eyes sparkled with unshed tears. Whats so funny?
He stopped laughing and jumped from the top bleecher. He landed graciously in front of us. Now that he's standing up, I realize he's tall. Really tall. Almost as tall as Kaz.
"I'm Elliot."
"Hi." Elliot is such a classic name. One you don't hear anymore. His folks must be a fan of old literature.
"Elves are known for more than just our green eyes, and pointy ears. Our classic names are what we are mostly recognized for." He says with a wink.
"That and their flirtatious behavior. Ignore him. He's mostly harmless." Alex shoves him back.
He fakes hurt and plants a hand on his chest. "Aly you wound me so."
She rolls her at him and I have to laugh. They're so silly.
