The war had ended and peace returned to the invisible barrier. In fact, in time, Janu and Nix have even developed a somewhat friendly relations with Larkinsville, Damura, and the other Fade Nations.
I'm sure that has everything to do with my mother's unmatachable charisma.

Three years ago from today, Irenaeus was defeated and the greatest war since the creation of the Barrier came to an end. To celebrate, a festival is being thrown at the newest region created.
It's lies deep inside the invisible barrier, just off the coast of Janu. It's not for Soles, Fades, or any specific creature. It will be a gathering place, for all creatures within the barrier. It was a joint project I was working on with a handful of others.

Initially, I was excited for the festival this year. But then I found it. It being a note saying there would be a feast in my honor. That ruined my mood entirely.

"I just don't know why. I didn't lift a finger to the defence of Janu. The feast should be for those who risked their lives. Not me." I can't help pouting in the mirror as my mother combs through my hair.

"It's not just about the war. Today's the day you take my spot as ruler of Janu. A piece of this kingdom resides in you. And now with you as our ruler, we will flourish."

"But mom! Why don't you keep the title for a little bit longer?"

"Nope. You're no longer a child. This is your burden to carry now." Her eyes were full of humor. "Oh guess what? You have special guests coming to see you."

I rolled my eyes at that. "Kaz isn't a special guest if he's here practically everyday."

"It's not Kaz. Though I'm sure he'll make an appearance too."

"Who else could it be? Azalea is already here."

"Yeah I am. And I think I found the perfect outfit too!" She leans out of my closet with a big smile.

"Oh let me see!" Mother drops the comb onto the table and rushes to look at the dress. Somehow they manage to entirely block my view which I know they did on purpose.

Shaking my head I stare at my reflection. My mother had somehow twisted my hair into a bun with tendrils flowing down the sides. A sprinkle of glitter lines my eyelids giving off what Kaz coined "the Janu look" Whatever the hell that means.

The door to my room opens and bright green eyes peek in. The goofy grin on his face is contagious. Instantly I'm out of my seat and scooping him up.

"Hey hey Niko!"

"Hi, hi! Havy my tooth is loose! See!" He then started wiggling his front teeth."

I sat him on my bed, careful to avoid the pile of junk my mother placed on it. "I see that. You know the witches would love to get their hands on those teeth. They could cast all kinds of horrible spells with it. If you force them out the witches will come and steal it. Leave them alone okay?"

He smiled and nodded, though I knew he wouldn't listen. I wouldn't either.

"You didn't come here by yourself did you?"

He shrugged "I told Daddy I was." He started running his words together trying to explain. "He said we'd go together but I didn't see him so I came here on my own."

"Did you think he'd be here?"

He shook his head. "nope. But I know he will be."

"Alright Haven, come put this on." Someone dropped a. Soft satin purple fabric on my head.

"Chop chop."

Holding up the fabric, I find a black thin flowy robe over a vibrant, violet dress. I glance up at the pair and sigh. "Alright. Give me a second Niko."
