~Haven~

I felt blood rushing to my cheeks and suddenly the grass became VERY interesting. Was it always this brittle? This shade of green seems slightly off. Is it damaged from the fire or perhaps essence?

I could practically hear Valerie's thoughts from the way her bare feet came in my sight.

"The fuck? Who said it was okay for you to kiss my little  sister? You were here to keep the baby safe not to seduce my baby sister. I thought you were her Destined you don't just get to put moves on her wha-"

"Val, Soles only have a Destined." Kaden interrupted her. Glancing from underneath the curtain of hair having in my face, I watched as Kaden strolled up to her and put his hands on her shoulders before he continued explaining. "Nine times out of ten their Destined functions as both that and an Ordained."

"But my dad-"

"Only found out he was  Destined with the Queen of the Soles, after your mother died. If she had hadn't died, he would have never met the Queen of Soles and she would have had another Destined."

Then Kaz spoke up. "Having a Destined isn't just about magic compatability but opportunity. If I hadn't been working with the Soles in Nix, then chances are Haven wouldn't have been my Destined. Even if I had just so happend to come across her, she probably would have been just another victim."

"Listen here, Kid, I don't want to hear that right now. I'm going to be there when you go to Janu and tell my Dad and Arielle about you and Haven and I guarantee he'll plan your assassination."

I smile at the mere mention of my mother's name. For the longest I couldn't remember it. But when I went into my soul and found her there, I remembered a lot of things. Her name was always so majestic to me.

Niko has been watching the result of his work quietly until now. He pulls on my sleeve. "Havy nap time?" He tilts his head to the left adorably.

"Are you sleepy?"

He nods and rubs his eyes tiredly before snuggling into my shoulder.

I look up and find all there eyes on me. I get antsy when no one says anything. "What?" Never seen a two year ask for nap? Niko does that a lot.

Kaz sighs before holding out his hands. "I told you he's been copying her. You're a bad influence, hand him over."

I frown and dodge his hands. "No way. I saved him. He's mine. Go jump in a lake or something dragon boy."

"You literally just tried to hand him to me."

"Yeah and you turned away. You don't get to take him now that he's sleep. You gotta earn this right."  I dodge his next attempt to take Niko from me and hide behind Kaden.

"Are you really fighting over Niko?" Valerie asked with this look of pure disbelief on her face.

"Yep. Mine. Get lost Kaz." I run behind Val all while cradling Niko. I'll be damned if I hand him over now.

Kaden shakes his head and laughs while speaking to Valerie "You and Haven are definitely sisters. You act the same way with Q."

"There's a mega difference. Stupid's my Cat. I found him."

"Technically, we found him and he lived with me."

"Sooo? He likes me better."

"I'm pretty sure he likes everyone."

"Wait hold up. I need clarification." I run around both Valerie and Kaden so I'm facing both of them. "You named a cat Stupid? That's insulting."

"No he's name's Cupid. Q for short. I just call him Stupid cuz it rhymes."
