Tabby gave me an earful. She was mad that I was careless enough to not provide adequate materials for playing in the snow. She was upset that I hadn't called her with good news and she was bothered about me letting a strange man stay in the house without notifying her.
What was weird was the 'without notifying her' part. Usually, Tabby wouldn't like having strangers in her house at all. Now she says as long as I tell her its okay? What the hell's going on with her?
Walking out of my room, I head towards Kaz's. Niko has a fever of a 101°. Poor little guy.
Opening the door, I peek in. Niko lays on the bed in a ball asleep. The Tylenol must have knocked him out. Kaz has a sad look on his face. When the door creaks as I open it wider, he looks up. His eyes are exhausted.
I offer what I hope is a reassuring smile. "How's Niko? "
"He finally stopped crying and went to sleep. That must be good. What did she say. "
"Ear infection. Some kids antibiotics will fix him, he'll be good as new. But first she said to give him a few days just in case he doesn't need them."
He frowns. "She wants me to watch him suffer?"
I shake my head. "If you give antibiotics to kids all the time, they'll become immune to it and won't have it when he needs it."
Kaz frowned even more. "Fades don't get sick. "
I get where hes coming from, I don't like seeing Niko in pain anymore than kaz.
Heaving a sigh I go sit beside him "Listen. Even if you give him antibiotics, the pain won't go away. You need tylenol. It'll take the pain away. I already gave him some. He'll be fine."
He nodded slowly, accepting it. "Will it work on him? He's not exactly human. "
"Yeah. They worked on me after the first two doses. And even when they didn't it put me to sleep so I'm the next dose will relieve the pain. "
That seemed to reassure him. "You use to get ear infections? "
"Yeah all the time. Comes with living in snowy areas."
He lips turned up into a smile. And I can't help but remember how soft they were on mine. As soon as the image popped up, I felt my cheeks blaze with heat.
Kaz, started smirking, as if he knew exactly what I was thinking. "What's wrong? "
It was a devious smirk, he wanted me to think about it, so he could further enjoy my embarrassment. I wouldn't let that happen. "Nothing."
His smile deepened. "Didn't look like nothing. "
I frowned. "Why can't you just let it go? "
"Why can't you just be honest? "He countered with his one eyebrow raised look that I hated.
"I am being honest. There's nothing to think about. " I stood my ground with a frown. Kaz on the other hand had a knowing smile on his lips. Clearing my throat I spoke in hopes of making an escape. "We'll give him another dose in the morning. Until then get some sleep. Nighty night"
"Alright. Good night. "
I was surprised he let it go but then again, he was obviously tired. And without essence, it would only be a matter of time before he crashed.... I'd have to figure out a way to accumulate his essence.
When I got to my room, Melon and Cinnamon were sitting behind the door almost as if they we're trying to get out. My pets are weird. I scoop up Cinnamon and crash on my bed back first. Melon joins us.
"How am I supposed to get Kaz the essence he needs in all this snow?" I asked no one in particular. Cinnamon pawed her way up to my chin and gave me a look. In the depts of her dual colored eyes seemed to be a question. Who
"No, I don't know who caused this per say. But if we defeat him, the snow would melt. "
if the snow melting is what I want, then I should go see someone so deeply in tuned with the Earth that they'd have a method of restoring it. Elliot.
Just as I decided to go see him in the morning, I curled up in a ball with my furry friends and drifted off to sleep.
I woke with a pounding headache, dizziness, and my body felt as if it had been run over by a truck. I stumbled out of bed, and when the walls started moving, I felt as that I was about to lose my lunch. Not that i had lunch, considering it was 6 in the morning.
I waited for the walls to stop shaking before I looked around. No wonder I feel off. Who the hell sleeps with the window open while snow continuously packs the ground? Dumb me.
The first thing I do after brushing my teeth is go cheek in on Kaz and Niko. Surprise surprise, they're both still knocked out.
This is the perfect chance. Knowing Kaz, he won't let me leave by myself now that he thinks what's his face knows where we at. But someones got to keep Niko good and drugged up.
I grab a sticky note and scribble down a where I put niko's medicine . I put that note on the nightstand in Kaz's room. Then I prepeare his next dose. After that, i stick another one on my door saying I went to see Elliot.
I put on my coat and hat. Then go to feed Melon and Cinnamon. Melon comes up right away and stuff his face. Usually Cinnamon would be right behind him. But she's not.
I'm not really all that surprised. She has a tendency to run off every now and then. Especially when i leave the window open. Oh well, she'll find her way home.
I head to the door and open it. Snow falls inside from how it was pressed up against the door. Guess Ive got to shovel today. I kick the snow back outside and close the door.
Since I don't feel like shoveling right now I have only one way out.
I head upstairs and toss open my window. Just as I'm about to make the 2-3 foot jump, Melon crashes into my back and I fall out the window and land on my face.I glare at the snow. Why do kids want dogs? Don't they get how misbehaving they are? Probably not. They're kids.
Shaking off the snow, i look up just in time to dodge Melon's furry hide as he kept from my window leash in mouth.
I have the weirdest dog in the world. One who likes playing in snow, laying in the road, and leaping from unknown heights.
I guess this is how life goes sometimes. I put the leash on him and we saunter to Elliot's.
Someone let's us in, and we make our way down a hall we we're lead to. As we got closer to the door, I recognized Alex's voice coming from the room at the end of the hall. Before I could open the door Melon ran inside, causing the door to bang against the wall.
A crash was heard along with and bump and a laugh.
Damn it Melon. "Sorry he's really frien-"
I stopped short. Elliot was laughing and Melon was licking Alex. She didn't have her sunglasses on. Her eyes were just like Cinnamon's dual colored. Ones blue the others yellow.
She just states at me, fear residing deep in their hollows.
Guess that explains why Melon jumped on her.
