Snow has begun to pile
Silently, it coats the aile
Yesterday, tomorrow, today, tonight.
All of it blurs within my sight.
For all I see is the snow
Drifting down ice cold
Freezing everything in sight
And remains past morning's light.
So come what may
For now, the cold is here to stay

I reread the postcard again to find that it made as much sense as it did the first time. Humans are just so weird.

Looking at Haven, I find that she's laying on the couch, Nikohlas on her stomach, playing some game with him. Sensing my stare, she faces me.

"What's up? "

I hold up the card. "This doesn't make any sense."

She glances at it before sighing. "Tabby can't come home because the snow came in early up in Canada. She's stuck there. "

Examing the card again, I find no trace of what she just said. "How did you interpret that? "

"That's the way Tabby raised me and Tyler. Whenever we couldn't do something, we'd make up little poems to make it fun. "

"That's kinda stupid. " I smirk knowing that it'll make her mad. As of late, I've found that when she gets annoyed she puffs out her cheeks like Nikohlas. Now that I think of it, so did Val and Vic. I wonder if it's genetic or just similar up bringings.

She frowns. "You're kinda stupid. "

She didn't make the face yet I guess I'll have to use my trump card. "We'll you're kinda short. "

That did it. She glared at me with puffed out cheeks. "Lay off my height! "

Before I could respond, Nikohlas spoke up. "Havy what's that? " he was pointing to something out the window.

I got up to look. White puffballs floated down. They coated the ground in a white sheet. The window was colder than usual so I can assume that whatever it is is cold.

I glanced just beyond the trees and the white sheet continued untouched.

I was drawn away from the sight by Haven pushing the curtains aside so she could see better. She has Nikohlas with her.

I looked at Haven, waiting for an explanation. It's one of the good things about having kids. They can ask questions that you can't without being mocked.

"That's snow Niko. Have you never seen snow? " the look she gave Niko was filled with warmth and adoration. Along with it was a kind smile.

"Nope" he shook his head back and forth fast.

"Well snow is really really cold and if caught early enough can be softer than a pillow or iced over and hard. You can make things out of it... Like play doh! You shouldn't eat snow either. Usually it doesn't snow here till late December or January. I didn't think it would snow this early in November. " She didn't look happy it.

"So this isn't normal? ." After seeing the expression on her face, I knew the awnser.

"No. Never happened before. I've been in this town for some years now. We've moved all over the town but always remained in town. This has never happened. "

"Then something must be up."

She shrugged her shoulders. "It could just be a freak accident. " she returned her gaze to the snow outside. "Either way, at this rate it won't be long before stores start closing. I should hurry to the store and grab some snacks for everyone." She handed Nikohlas to me before heading towards the closet door.
