†Haven†
Moonlight streamed in through the clouds. White snowflakes flutter haphazardly on the fridgid air. The snow still shows no sign of stopping.
I take a seat on the windowsill in Kaz's room. I'm watching a drugged Niko while Alex dragged Kaz out to met with Elliot. He's the one who has to start the plan to reconnect Kaz with his essence.
Although, after this, it'll be up to me to proceed with the plan. But that's easier said than done.
Closing my eyes, I find myself recalling what Elliot told me two days ago.
"There's only 2 ways to restore your friend's Essence. The easiest is to go back across the barrier, however" he pauses and entwine his fingers, "I don't think that's an option. The condition to do so requires a new moon and fire essence. With the town being covered in snow, the fire essence is out."
"Awww why are the easy ways off limits? " I sink back on the couch with a frown on my face.
Elliot smirks. "The only other way is for you to create enough fire essence that will attract fire spirits. Then, a connection will be open temporarily, then it's up to you how to proceed. You can use this opprutintiy to send him back across the barrier. Or you can capture the creature and use it to open a temporary connection when needed.
Coming back to the here and now, I see Niko twitch under the covers before sitting up and looking around. When he doesn't see what he's looking for, he whines. "Daddy? "
Of course he would be looking for Kaz the one night he isn't around to make him feel better.
I hop off the windowsill and crawl into the bed. "Hey Niko. What's the matter? "
"Havy? I want daddy. " he pouts
"Kaz isn't here right now. Am I good enough? "
He looks at me, his bright green eyes bored deep into mine. After a second or two, he shrugs. "What we do? "
I smile at that. "How about we watch a movie?" I hop off the bed when he nods and run to my room for my computer and my all time favorite DvD.
I rush back to Kaz and Niko's room before climbing on the bed and curling up with Niko. We watch All Dogs go to Heaven until we fall asleeep.
†Kazimieras†
Theres a half a sliver of moon left to light the night. Next week, would be a new moon. With the remaining essence I've got, I could cross the barrier home. I could open a portal for me and Niko to go through.
I should consider it, but up until the Elf said something, it didn't even occur to me to use what I have left to leave. Then I would have to leave Haven behind. If I gave her a choice, she'd choose to stay. This town is her home. There are people here she can't let down. She'd never agree to come back with us.
Maybe that why I never thought about it. Even now, with Lord Ireanaus after us here, the hidden world looks safer and safer. Still, I wouldn't leave, not without Haven. And she won't leave without saving this town.
That's just who she is.
When the house comes into view, Alex speaks up. "You know, It would be in your kid's best interest to leave. With all the snow we're receiving, we've made national news. Soon, Hunters will be rolling in from God knows where. Niko's in danger here."
I know that. It's just only a matter of time before they find us. But still. "I can't leave Haven. She's going to try to save this town. She'll have to stop Lord Ireaneus. She'll need my help. "
"Undoubtedly, that's assuming the reaper doesn't do her in first."
Right. She has more people after her than her sisters did. "And yet, here you are trying to convince me to leave"
She puts her hands up in surrender. "Im not. This is what Haven thinks. You know her number one priority is you and Niko. She'd rather face all this alone than get either of you hurt. But Haven's not a fighter. I can guarantee that without your help, she won't win. It's a sticky situations she's in. But just know, that she wouldn't fight them alone. She may have a plan how to deal with you and Niko, but me and Elliot have a plan of our own."
Before I could question her about Haven's plan, howls resonate through the forest.
Alex frowns and takes off but stops a few feet away and says, "I gotta go, gotta check on something. " then with no time out all, she phases into a lynx and disappears into the brush.
Something must be going in with the pup.
When I get inside, I find the kitchen clean. Meaning eithee Haven cleaned up or more likely she never messed it up and probably didn't eat.
I head for her room and find it empty. Where the hell is she? I walk to my and Nikohlas's room and find her there. Asleep with Nikohlas.
A breathe out a sigh of relief. I had started to worry. Haven isn't a fighter. Anyone can take a look at her and know that. But with th the Reaper after her, the Hunters coming for my son, and Lord Ireaneus wanting all of us dead, this isn't a time for weakness.
Haven stirs and opens her eyes sleepily. "Welcome back. How did It go. "
"Hey shorty, go back to sleep, I'll tell you in the morning."
She mummbles something like "don't have to tell me I'm going to. " then pushes Nikohlas's knee out of her face and goes back to sleep.
I hop in the bed beside Nikohlas. Just as I close my eyes, something pokes my cheek.
I look at haven whose looking at me. "You know we got this, right. We'll take down whats his face and defeat the reaper. Then we'll hightail outta her before the hunters come."
Although she's half asleep, she's still intuitive as always. "So you're coming with us? "
She mummbles something incomprehensible and drifts off to sleep.
Shaking my head, I couldn't stop the smile on my face. Although she makes me worry more than anyone else, she's the only one who can make them disappear too. Even fighting Lord Ireanues doesn't seem impossible now. Nothing does.
Just as sleep overcomes me, my Taj's words pop into my head. Any problem that neither of you can surpass on your own is easily conquered together. That'a the whole point of having a Destined.
I couldn't agree more.
I wanted to have this chapter up a few days ago. But I had to move into my new dorm and then school started today, I hadn't had much time to do much of anything. But it up now. Hope you enjoyed.
