he began to comment on my shirts

i think the first was my labyrinth shirt, with david bowie on it (this took place before david died, ☹)

i remember him smiling and saying that he finds the man to be a very interesting person

another shirt is a bright, red, tee with a little printed-on pocket that had jiji (the cat from kiki's delivery service) sticking out of it

i remember him saying "you look very red today"

and i remember the exact words that shot through my brain like a bullet:

yeah, i'm red because you're making me so fucking flustered

of course i didn't say that

but that doesn't make it untrue

someone suggested that he could have been 'checking me out' and not just looking at my shirts

i still don't believe that to be true

but i still think about it
