Chapter 3

Vancouver, Canada

Yumi’s POV

“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Vancouver International Airport.”

As I open my eyes, the plane has already landed. I fix myself and start to head outside. I am really here, again. I start walking and get my luggage. I scan my eyes to look for her. “Yumi, over here!” a very familiar voice yells.

“Aunt Eula!” I wave and run on her. We happily hug each other and we start to head on her car. We talk about many things while on our way to her house. She asks me how the flight is and I answer her that it’s fine. Honestly, what I just did the whole flight is to sleep.

After an hour of driving, we have arrives on a familiar two-storey house. I immediately get off the car and a bone crashing hug welcomes me. “I missed you too… Ysa.” I said to her and they all laugh.

“Hey I-I can’t breathe…” I murmur.

“Oh! I am so sorry Yumi, I just missed you so much. Right, Alden?” she exclaims and looks at her brother behind her.

“Alden…” I greet him and he hugs me too just like Ysa.

“I missed you Yumi.” he said in between our hugs. “Me, too… Look at you; you’re taller than me now.” I look at him and he just laugh.

“Okay kids, enough of that. Yumi must be tired and starving now. Come on, let’s get inside.” Aunt Eula told us.

As I steps inside, so many memories flash back on my head. This house, besides my apartment in Korea brings memories about my parents. A large hand taps my shoulder and brings my mind back to the present. I look at the owner of this hand and I smile widely on him. “Uncle Jack!” I yell and hug him.

“Yumi, how are you? You grow more beautiful, huh.” He said grinning. “I’m good. I missed you and this house.” I answer him while roaming my eyes around. “You know you’re always welcome here anytime. Eula is so excited on you coming here.” He said. “I can say that.” I said.

“Yumi is probably starving now. Come on; let’s go to the dining room. I cook your favorite food.” My Aunt grabs my wrist and led us all to the dining table.

I look at her when we got there. “Lasagna…” I smile and she nod.

“That’s your favorite, am I right?” she asks with a little confusion.

“Yes. It is still my favorite, especially if you’re the one who cooks.” I hug her as I whisper the words, ‘thank you’. We continue chatting about my whereabouts at the kitchen while we eat happily. Once again, I feel like having a family.

As we finish eating, I went on my room here. The color is still the same. Everything is pink just like what I always wanted. My eyes lands on the floor as my bags still there. I start unpacking my things and place it on the closet. As I fix my things, my eyes caught a small black box. It was one of my Mom's things. I grab it and place it on my chest as I close my eyes. Whenever I place it near me, I can feel my Mom. I love my parents but my Mom is the closest in my heart.
