Chapter 8

Katniss POV

"Katniss I'm here." Peeta says walking in the hospital door

I run over to him giving him a hug.

"How's your mom? Where is she?"

I pull away from his grasp and look up at him.

"She is in surgery right now. That's all the lady at the desk will tell me."

"Do you know how it was caused or anything? The car wreck I mean."

"No, no clue. They won't let me know anything. It's just so stupid, I'm her daughter I should be able to know at least what happened, or why she is in surgery!I've been sitting here stressing out for the past 4 hours now and I c-"

"Hey relax! They do that for a reason. Just sit down and try to relax until your mom is out of surgery."

"Well whatever the reason is its stupid."

Eventually Peeta gets me to sit down and relax. While Prim is already sitting down.We wait a little longer and soon I'm fast asleep.

"Katniss." I hear a familiar voice whisper

"Hmm?" I say slowly opening my eyes

"You can see your mom n-"

I jump up.

"Where is she at?"

"Room 204 Prim is already in there."

"Okay thanks."

I walk in there and see my mom looking happy for her condition.

"Mom!"

"Katniss!"

"How are you feeling?"

"Super bad. I just had surgery on my arm and legs. I had pieces of metal inside there from the car accident."

"I'm so sorry mom." I say starting to cry just hearing about her accident

"It's okay. But I will have to be here for awhile to recover. You will have to stay with Peeta and his family until I'm out."

"Okay but can I come and visit?"

"Yes of course but I don't want you 2 missing school because of me."

"We won't, as long as I can see you!"

"Okay perfect! The doctor said I only have a couple minutes for talking because he needs to check on my stitches and everything. I love you girls!" She says giving us a kiss on the forehead

"I'll see you tomorrow mom!"

"Bye I love you!"

"I love you too!"

(At Peeta's house)

"You 2 can stay in our guest room upstairs we have 2 beds in there so that will be perfect." Peeta's dad tells Prim and I

"Okay thank you!" Prim and I say in unison like it was planned

"It's upstairs to the left, it's right next to Peeta's room." He tells us

"Thanks!" I tell him gratefully

We walk upstairs into the bedroom and put our stuff away since we will be here for awhile. We then lay down and go to bed since its been a long day.

I walk up to Prim on top of me shaking me awake.

"What's wrong?"

"I had a nightmare and the storm outside isn't making it any better."

"Do you want to talk about it?"

She shakes her head no.

"It's okay I get them too."

"What are yours about?"

I sit up leaning against the bed frame.

"Mostly about dad."

"I miss him."

"Me too. Me too."

Then we hear a loud sound of thunder and a bunch of lighting strikes outside.

"Can we turn the weather channel on?" Prim asks

"Yeah sure!"

I turn it on for her and it says we will be having this kinda weather for awhile.

"Eh I wish it could just be over!"

"It's okay just lay down and try to cover your ears."

"Can I go get Peeta?"

I laugh

"Why?"

"Because he seems so comforting at a time like this."

"Well thanks." I say laughing

"Sorry. Can I go get him though?"

"Sure."

Soon she comes back with Peeta behind her.

"He said he would come here for a couple minutes." Prim informs me

"Okay." I say laughing

"What do you want me to do?" Peeta asks

"Just tell me everything is okay." Prim says

Prim is acting so strange, I think that nightmare had an affect on here. She is acting like a 5 year old that wants her dad.

"Everything is fine." Peeta reassures her

Then that's when I realize it.

"Goodnight Peeta!" She says smiling

Ever since my dad died,

"Goodnight Katniss and Prim!" He says walking out

Prim looked to Peeta as a father figure or older man in her life.
