Chapter 10

Katniss POV

"Katniss wake up! It's already 7:00!" Prim yells in my ear

"Okay." I mumble pulling the blanket down from over my head and attempting to get out of bed

I walk into the bathroom almost tripping from how tired I am. I decide to put on some light makeup before going to grab my clothing. I decide on some leggings and a long shirt.

I walk downstairs to Peeta and his family enjoying a yummy looking breakfast.

"Join us! We saved you and Prim a spot." His dad tells me waving us over

I sit down and see I have a plate with some waffles and strawberries.

"Thank you!"

I dig in enjoying this nicely cooked meal, and so does Prim. Eventually breaking he silence Peeta's brother speaks up.

"How's your mom?" Peeta's brother Rye asks me

"She is getting better but still isn't feeling well" I tell him sadly

"I'm sorry. I hope she gets better." He tells me

"Thanks. Me too." I say sadly

"Katniss do you and Prim need a ride to school?"

"No it's okay I can drive P-" before I can finish Prim interrupts me

"That would be fun!" Prim says happily

"Okay I'd love to!" Peeta says smiling

Soon we finish eating and getting ready for school.

(In the car)

"You realize now you have to pick me and Prim up." I tell Peeta who is super focused on the road

"I don't mind."

"You're to nice." I say laughing at him

"What? Why is that funny. Would you rather me be mean?" He say smiling

"You couldn't even if you tried." I say laughing

"Watch me."

"Go for it." I say trying to contain my laughter

"Katniss, those shoes look ugly with your outfit." He says shakily

I burst into laughter.

"That's all?" I question

"That wasn't mean enough?" He asks

"No!" I say still laughing

"Wait do my shoes really look ugly with my outfit?" I question truly wondering

"Not at all." He says quickly

Soon enough we pull up to the school.

"Thank you!"

"No problem!"

We walk into the building and see the bell is about to ring. We got here a little later than usual. I walk with Peeta to my locker since it's right next to his them we go on to 1st period.

"Hey Kat!" I hear Gale so behind me

"Hi Gale." I mutter under my breath

"What do you want?" I ask him rudely, Peeta gives me a strange look from a little ways down the hall, starting to walk over.

"You know what I want." He says

Peeta just can't get here soon enough.

"What you want is not what I want." I tell him coldly

"Come on Kat, we've already had this conversation. Why can't you just accept that I like you and date me?" He asks getting a little closer as if to hug me

"Because I don't like you." I say taking steps back bumping into Peeta.

"What's going on?" Peeta asks

"Gale wa-" he cuts me off

"I was trying to help Katniss get to class but she was being the stubborn girl as she is." Gale says

I glare at him.

"Well leave her alone next time." Peeta tells him

I walk with him to 1st period not telling him the truth about what happened.

"You okay?" He asks

"I'm fine. Just fine." I lie
