Chapter 27

Katniss POV

(At school)

I take a seat at my spot in the class. Which is right next to Peeta which I couldn't be happier about.

"Hey Katniss." Peeta smiles as he takes a seat beside me

"Hey." I reply

He grabs his pencil and paper and all other supplies he needs for this class and I do also.

"Hey Peeta!" I hear a familiar voice call behind me

"Hi Gracie." Peeta says and I can't tell if he is annoyed or happy.

Gracie takes a seat at her spot which so happens to be on the other side of Peeta. Sometimes I just hate Mr.Abernathy his seating charts are the worst but I do have Annie in front of me so that's a plus.

Annie turns around "Looks like you have a boyfriend stealer." She says pointing to Gracie starting admirably at Peeta.

I roll my eyes.

"Will Peeta and I ever have it easy? First it was Delly, Gale, Jack, and now her. Everybody tries to separate us." I whisper back as I see Peeta pushing Gracie away.

"You know he would do anything for you though. He tells Finnick all the time about how he screwed up with the whole Jack thing." She whispers

"I know. I forgave him. It's just what he said, I can't forget it."

She nods "He feels so bad." She says referring to everything Finnick has told her

Her and Finnick have been getting really really close to the point I think they are dating but not telling us.

"I know." I say simply

I look over back at Gracie and she glares at me. What's her problem?

Then Mr.Abernathy walks in.

"Okay class, shut your mouth and listen. Today we are working on this worksheet." He says holding up the paper so everyone can see. He tells us how to do it then hands it out.

"Here sweetheart." He says handing me my paper. He always calls me that, I have no clue why but it's extremely annoying.

When Gracie gets her paper she immediately turns to Peeta. "Peeeeta, can you help me with this problem?" She whines

"Oh yeah sure." Peeta says being the nice person he is

I glare at them both.

"Your supposed to be working by yourself." Mr.Abernathy says and then winks at me.

Sometimes I think we underestimate teachers because for 1 they are teaching us but number 2 I'm pretty sure Mr.Abernathy knows more about me than anyone else. I may think he is annoying but sometimes I gladly appreciate everything he does. Especially just now.

I smile at him.

We work on our worksheet for the rest of the period until the bell rings. Everyone starts getting excited since its last period and storms out. I grab my bag and binders and start heading out until I hear my name.

"Katniss, may I speak to you for a second." Mr.Abernathy says

"Yes." I say walking over to his desk.

"I see you have a problem with Gracie and Peeta working together." He says

I nod "Well Peeta is my boyfriend, and Gracie try's to get in the way."

I have no clue why I'm telling this all to my teacher.

"I could work something out." He says looking at his computer

"You would do that for me?" I ask happily

"Katniss you think I don't care about any of my students but I watch you all come and go. I learn so much about each and every one of you. You have always been a great student, stubborn at times but a great student." He says

Wow am I dreaming. Mr.Abernathy just said that to me.

"I never knew you felt that way about me." I say shocked

"Now leave before I say more nice stuff." He says laughing

I laugh also.

"Thanks you." I say walking out of the classroom

"You're welcome."
