Chapter 25

Peeta POV

I feel awful about what I said, words just kept flowing out of my mouth and I could stop it. I actually didn't know Katniss had really bad self confidence but I'm pretty sure I just made it worst.

I never wanted to break up with Katniss but Jack is turning me into someone I don't want to be. That's why I stopped talking to him, he is only trying to get into between Katniss and I so he can have her to himself.

I'm broken out of my thoughts by an incoming call from Prim. I told her only to call me for emergencies.

I immediately click answer.

(On the phone with Prim)

"Hey is everything okay?"I say frantically

"No, Katniss is sitting on the couch in the living room crying her eyes out."

"Because of what I said?"

"Yeah and I know one thing you two better get back together or you two will never be happy."

"Why do you say that?"

"Because you two are what make each other happy."

I just stay silent.

"While you two were dating she was the happiest I've ever seen her since dad died. What you said broke her heart."

"I didn't mean to."

"I know you didn't Peeta but Katniss doesn't. She thinks the whole school sees her that way."

"What way?"

"A girl that pushes herself on other guys."

"Nobody sees her that way."

"Exactly. But what you just said to her changed her mind. Peeta you need to come talk to her."

"I don't think she wants to talk to me."

"Just to say sorry? Why did you break up with her anyway?"

"Jack told me stuff."

"What stuff?"

"Stuff about Katniss. Which I should have known wasn't real, but something just led me to believe that it was true."

"Well I say you get your butt over here and apologize."

"I'm already on my way."
