Chapter 16

Katniss POV

Did he really just say that? I must be dreaming! He likes me. He actually likes me.

He blushes looking down.

"I'm just going to go." He says heading for the door but I grab his arm pulling him back.

"I like you too." I say slowly

For a moment we don't move. Both of us just staring into each other's eyes.

Until he eventually starts leaning in, and I do the same. We kiss for a moment both of us loving the feeling of our lips touching. While I have this butterfly feeling in my stomach, I feel sparks when I kiss him. Then we both pull away. Putting our foreheads together.

"So what are we now?" He asks me after a moment

"Whatever you want us to be." I say smiling still thinking about the kiss

He smiles back.

"Katniss Everdeen will you be my girlfriend?" He asks me nicely

"I'd love to." I say giving him a hug.

(After Peeta leaves)

"Tell me everything!" Annie insist as she takes a seat on my bed.

"Well he came over to help out but my mom said she didn't need anythi-" she cuts me off

"Not the boring stuff I want to know about the kiss!" Annie says quickly

"I'm getting there!" Then I continue "so my mom didn't need anything so Peeta and I went upstairs. So we were having a nice little conversation then I asked him about Gracie."

"I hate her! She always looks at Peeta in ELA." She says annoyed

I groan" Well I saw Peeta looking at her in a lot of classes and in the hallways so I asked him about her and if he liked her or not. He said no, then said he liked someone else. So I asked him who and he described her. Then said she is sitting right next to me."

"Oh my gosh!" Annie says in awe

"Then we kissed and he asked me to be his girlfriend." I state simply

"So you give me all this detail about other crap then tell me nothing about the kiss." Annie says annoyed "Give me detail about the kiss!" Annie pleads

"Well it made my stomach have butterflies and it felt like sparks were flying all around us!" I say smiling just remembering

"Aww!" Annie says "Was it long?"

"Annie what is with these questions?" I ask her embarrassed

"Just answer it."

"It wasn't short but wasn't long" then I add "And now I know I love him." I say smiling
