Chapter 23

Katniss POV

Katniss we need to talk.

From peeta❤️
Call me.

(On the phone with Peeta)

After a couple rings he picks up.

"Hey w-what's up?" I say nervously

"Katniss, Jack just came to my house saying you were all over him kissing him and trying to make out with him today at your house."

"What the heck?"'

Why would Jack do that?

"Oh don't play dum."

"You believe him?" I ask sadly

How could Peeta just suddenly believe what Jack says I mean yesterday he hated him.

"Katniss I don't know who to believe right now."

"How about your own girlfriend." I say annoyed

He scoffs "The one that maybe cheating on me."

"Peeta I don't know what's gotten into you but I would never do anything to hurt you. I love you." I say convincingly

But he hangs up. Not even saying i love you, back.

Sobs wreck my body as I lay on my bed. I cry into my pillow having my blanket on my back for warmth.

It's just me crying until Prim knocks on the door.

"Katniss are you okay?" Prim asks softly from the other side of the door.

"No." I croak out

She comes in my room, sees my state, and immediately embraces me in a hug.

"What happened?" She asks softly

I wait a minute to explain everything trying to catch my breath.

"You remember how I told you J-Jack was at my school right?" She nods

I sigh"Well this whole week he has been really clingy to me and Peeta has been a bit skeptical about it."

She nods giving me the signal to continue.

"And today he came over to do the science paper with me, and he kissed me."

"On the lips?"

"Yes really hard and for a second I couldn't pull away."

She frowns "He probably thought you liked it."

I laugh a little "Until I yelled at him and kicked him out of the house."

Prim smiles a little at this.

"Then Jack went over to Peeta's house telling him that I was all over him today kissing him."

She frowns.

"Peeta should know you better than to believe what he said." She explains

"Well he sent me a message telling me to call him and when I did he was super mad. He didn't even say I love you, back to me." I start crying again

"It's okay Katniss maybe he will figure it out soon enough. That Jack was lying."

"I don't know he seemed streaky mad." I say still crying

Prim rubs my back soothingly "I'll talk to him. Don't worry."
