Someone's Word

Usually I don't take someone's word,
I fear that it makes me look weak.

Not today,
Even though I was hesitant.

Few people I will trust when they say I look fine,
Even if I don't like to hear it.

I took off the jacket because I trust you guys,
Even if I didn't want to.

I took your word.

Someone's word means a lot,
Even if you don't believe it.

It's almost as important as a promise,
You're giving your trust to them.

If you give me your word,
You better mean it.

Too many people have destroyed that for me,
Few I still trust.

If you give me your word,
No matter how mad I get for any reason-

I will keep your word,
I will never forget it.

Because it is someone's word.

And someone's word is special.

Especially if that someone is one of my friends,
I know you can keep their word.

Because I do.
