Mourning

Losing someone is hard to get over,
No matter how many times I am asked I will never be okay.

I can only smile and enjoy time I have,
And I will never forget what he did for me.

When I was little I would go outside,
Papa would join me and look up at the sky and say,

"When someone dies they join the clouds,
And watch over the people they love.

Someday I will be up there and watch you become a great writer or artist,
I don't want you to cry.

But look up at the first cloud you see,
And know that I love you and want you to be happy.

Days there are no clouds in the sky,
Are days we take off to rest.

I love you, Kiddo.
Don't be sad when I live as a cloud."

So on a cloudy day I will look up at the sky,
And smile at the first cloud that catches my eye.

That one cloud will watch over me,
And I'll know it's him.

I don't believe in God,
But I believe my Papa is watching over me.

So I look at the cloud and smile,
"Thank you Papa, for watching over me."

On cloudless days I will cry,
Though I will know Papa took a break from watching us.

I will never be okay,
So don't ask because the answer is solid.

All I need to do is smile.
Smile and enjoy who I have left.
