the next few days of work were pretty boring as all i had to do was measure up prototypes for the future housing developments in san Francisco. thankfully, me and James were doing the same thing so we made it fun some how. Grayson and i texted a bit but it wasn't anything major. Harper and jack made loads of plans together so i had nothing else to do but work or missed lessons from school. i decided to text grayson.
me: hi.
he took quite a while to reply but it was ok as i was watching the big bang theory.
grayson: hey u ok?
me: yeah I'm fine u?
grayson: yeah I'm good, i just got to the gym
me: sounds cool what you working on today then
grayson: my triceps
me: nice haha
grayson: what are you doing?
me: watching tv like a potato
grayson: haha
me: haha, what time shall i meet you guys sunday?
grayson: around 1 at the bottom of the walkway near the shops.
me: ok, sounds great
grayson: can't wait!
me: neither!
i texted Harper to say that i wasn't going to be in on Sunday and she texted back the eyes emoji just to bug me.
the next day i woke up and put on a blue dress and some black wedge sandals. i got in my blue jeep wrangler to go and pick James up from his place. i then drove us down to santa Monica pier to have a look around and have a great time. we got out of the car which was parked what felt like miles away from the pier and then made our way down to the stalls.
"looking forward to your date tomorrow?" James said jokingly
" ha, ha, your so funny... and i am to be honest. I've never been for a hike to the hills before," i said back to him confidently. James then started singing the song by the weeknd.
"have you prepared yourself?" James asked me
"how do you mean?" i asked him back
"you know... they're two fine guys and your going on a hike... do you get the picture?" he then asked me blatantly
"you do realise I've seen them both shirtless already. at the beach..." i replied
"you don't hang about..." he said whilst laughing. i hit him lightly and then we started talking about how things are going to go down tomorrow.
"do you need me to come over to help you get ready in the morning?" he asked me
"for a hike...? really?" i asked him back
"yeah! you need to look good for your man!" he said whilst giggling
"ugh! were not dating!" i said as we wandered down to the bottom of the pier.
a few hours passed and we decided to head back to go shopping down santa Monica promenade. James convinced me to buy a sports top for tomorrow from lulu lemons even though i have loads of gym gear. the top was like a sports bra but longer, it was white with black detailing along the sides. after shopping for a few hours i managed to get a few things. as well as the sport top, i got a new dress that is floral and a new pair of espadrilles. James got himself a jumper that he said was perfect for anyone. in the end i got the same one but in purple instead of grey. once shopping was over we drove back to my apartment to say hi to Harper and to order a pizza. we got 3 pizzas all together and a box of fries to share. me, Harper, James and jack sat down to watch a movie. we watched the notebook (cliche... i know). Harper and jack cuddled into each other. me and James did too but ended up laughing at the awkwardness of everything. instead we just fed each other pop corn which turned out to be even more awkward. after the movie was over james got me to drive him home.
"thanks for today..." james said
"thanks for making me uncomfortable about going out with my new friends" i said as i laughed
"haha! your welcome" he grinned and shut the door. i sighed and got back into my car and drove off back to my apartment. my phone started ringing so i put on the hands free. it was my mum calling from back home.
"hey Ava, i was just checking to see how you are!" she said bubbly
"I'm good yeah... pretty tired though its like 11" i said back
"are you driving?" she asked
"yeah, i just dropped off james. you know james right?"
"oh yeah your work friend!" she said back
"yeah we had just been to the pier today and did some shopping"
"ooo. did you get anything nice?" she asked me
"uh... i got some workout gear and me and james got kinda matching jumpers ha" i said back
"don't you have enough workout gear?"
"well... its for a hike tomorrow...in going with this guy i met a few days ago and his brother, they're twins," i said expecting a lecture about boys
"are you dating this guy... whats his name?" she asked me with no warning
"no i am not! he's just a friend and he is called grayson... before you ask, the brother is called ethan."
"well i better go... I've got to get to work before the traffic hits. love you!"
"love you too! bye mum, can't want to see you at the end of the month!"
i loved talking to my mum. ever since she pestered me the first few days of living in la I've kind of missed seeing and hearing her which is sad. so, whenever she calls its really nice.
once i got home i got changed into my pyjamas and said goodnight to Harper and jack who were sitting on the sofa watching a horror movie. i got into bed and all i could think about was tomorrow. i don't know why because i only see them as friends but its going to be a fun day.
