there she was.
my amazing mum smiling like a goon as my grandad walked her down the isle for the second time to the same guy.
when the ceremony was over and the two of them had said their vows and everyone was happy for the reunited couple.
the reception started and everyone gathered in round tables covered in ivory clothes with a lilac strip down the middle of each table and lavender and white roses in glass vases.
Grayson and i sat on a table with the other 2 bridesmaids and my parents. occasionally, we left the table to ask if everyone was having a good time.
for food, we could choose from salmon on chicken so i had salmon and Grayson had chicken. i wasn't sure what was on the salmon but it was really tasty whatever it was.
after everyone had eaten and the cake was cut, we all headed outside where the bad was on a small wooden stage.
for their first dance, they moved around the tiled floor under the canopy as everyone cheered and clapped for them.
Grayson and I danced for a little bit but then i was dragged off by my aunt to dance so he waved me off and wished me good luck as he watched me make a fool of myself from the table furthest away from the bar.
we were sworn off of it today.
as soon as i was done dancing, i walked back over to Grayson where the two of us laughed in our own little world about how awkward i was dancing with my aunt who i hadn't seen or spoken to in ages.
after around an hour of the two of us talking, he took me out from the canopy to walk around the gardens they had at the gorgeous hotel and wedding venue.
we held hands and slowly walked under the golden lights and the beaming moon that reflected the sun over the ground.
i let my head fall onto his shoulder as we strolled around the low hedge maze where flowers were laid in-between each hedge and bush.
"i really love you, you know," he said and stopped walking all of a sudden,
"i know, and i love you too," i said stopping next to him confused,
"a lot," he stated,
"a lot," i smiled,
"i need to do this now or I'm scared it'll be too late by the time i next do," he said running his hands through his hands,
"Grayson, please don't do this," i said looking down at the floor fearing that he was going to ask me the wrong question for a wedding,
"what? why not..." he said confused,
"because i'm not ready to let you go just yet and whenever you want out next, you can go... today is not the time or place to break my heart Gray," i said to him beginning to tear,
"what?" he laughed at me and hugged me,
"so you're not breaking up with me?" i asked so unsure of what was going on,
"no!" he said releasing the hug, "this is not how i thought this was going to go down," he ran his hands though his hair, "speaking of which," he crouched down onto one knee,
"Grayson," i said stunned,
"yes?"
"what the heck is going on,"
"Ava Richards, would you make me the happiest man on earth and be my wife for as long as we live?" he said pulling something out of his pocket and handing it to me.
i looked down at him and this time i was crying tears of joy as he did that,
"of course i will," i said quickly as it took not thought at all.
"here you go," he said handing me a card,
"what's this?" i asked him as i pulled the card out of the holder,
"oh my god," i laughed at the Starbucks gift card i was holding in my hand, "this is comedy gold," we laughed together.
"this is your real engagement gift," he said opening up a little blue velvet box and revealing the most gorgeous ring ever.
the ring had a white diamond in the middle and a blue sapphire on either side of the diamond. the band was platinum and the ring fit me like a glove. absolutely perfect.
"this... is... amazing," i said speechlessly,
"thank you so much," he said to me,
"thank you so, so, so, much," i said in-between kisses,
"your welcome," he said smiling and accepting my kisses.
i breathed heavily and looked up in his eyes,
this. this was the best day.
thanks for Starbucks and looking like a hobo.
thanks for Grayson Dolan.
thanks for love.
Grayson and I, who would've known.
