*KARA'S POV*
"It's heartbreaking seeing him like that."
"I try to talk to him in between periods, but he acts like I'm not there."
"It's been nine years...why hasn't he stopped shutting everyone out?"
I repeat that in my head every single day.
I miss hanging out with my other half. I remember when we were five we would chase down the ice cream truck. I remember being six and flying kites over by the old church. I remember being seven and laying out in the grass coloring and drinking lemonade in the summer time and I remember those brief few months after he turned eight when we talked about who our favorite super heroes were...
And then everything stopped.
There were no more kites and ice cream and coloring pages and lemonade and super heroes.
Kites would have taken him to new places.
Ice cream would have taken away the pain.
Coloring pages would have taken his creativity to a new level.
Lemonade would have taken away the heat.
And superheroes?
Superheroes would've taken away the day that his parents died.

"Kara, come on! We have to get to class!" Amity yelled pulling me through the hall way.
"Amity!" I still have to get my book from my locker. I'm fine just go," I laughed.
"You sure you aren't just wanting to talk to Ace or attempt to anyway?"
"Yeah, there wouldn't be any talking in one of those conversations, if you would even call them that, anyway."
She smiled and nodded and walked into Spanish while I walked back to my locker and to my delight Ace was there, but not like I wanted him to be. Not waiting on me with a smile, but in front of his locker with a stormy look in his grey eyes and a stone cold expression on his face.
I opened my locker and got out my Spanish book before turning to him.
He just kept his head down and he had his earphones in again so me being the girl I am "dropped" my book on his foot.
He didn't even flinch. He simply took out his earphones, bent down and got my book and then gave it to me without even glancing in my direction.
"Ace." I whispered.
I could see him tense up, but he still didn't look at me so with a sigh of defeat I went on to Spanish, but not without looking back at the lockers where he had vanished.
I can't believe that we were once best friends.
I took my seat in class and pulled out my picture. Even back then he had floppy silver hair and grey eyes, but they weren't stormy and dark like they are now. Instead, they were full of life. The picture was taken at his birthday party. It was me and him on his porch with our arms wrapped around each other. He had this huge gorgeous smile on his face and I the same. We were so happy in that moment just holding each other and being the practical seven year old. I took those moments for granted.
"Kara, have you something to share with the entire class?" Señora Young asked.
"No." I muttered running my thumb over the picture that was now tucked under my desk in safety.
She rolled her eyes and continued on her with her horrific lesson until the bell rang and we were dismissed for study hall.
I always took my study hall in the library for two reasons:

Vampire"Stop!" Kara cried straddling over me and pinning my hands above my head where the gun was out of my reach. I quickly retaliated throwing her under me and cowering over her hearing her melodic pulse in harmony with mine, but I ignored it. "I want to...
