*KARA'S POV*

It all happened so fast.

One second I was sitting in the office flipping through the photocopied versions of the Genesis files and being overwhelmed with the soothing ambiance of Cora yelling at Ace in the background and the next second there were drops of sweat cascading down my forehead as I did everything in my power to push myself farther into a corner that seemed to diminish the more I tried.

Thunderous waved rolled throughout the upper levels of the floor as the ceiling slowly started to collapse and threaten to crush me. The dilapidation was a seemingly centrifugal force and was slowly creeping its way in my direction as I helplessly clutched the Genesis files into my chest and prayed for a miracle as another explosion went off to my right.

"Are you okay!?" I thought hoping for Ace to tune in with a concerned tone and tell me what to do, but that didn't happen.

Because he didn't answer.

And that didn't make me feel any better compared to my previous panicked state. Now I was falling in and out of lapses of trepidation and alarmingly fast paces.

I have to keep the files safe.

I even thought of grabbing the seventy boxes of slim jims that were holding a very prominent position in the file cabinets and giving them to Seven, but figured that would be a very poor representation of the things I managed to salvage if I get out of here.

The ceiling continued to cave in as I quickly threw the files under my shirt and I continued to slam myself into the back wall pleading for a miracle until an idea popped into my mind that was attemptable, granted it could potentially be the end of me, but it was better than hoping that I would suddenly become an indestructible being of nature that could hold up the very building that was collapsing and waving its final farewell above me.

I slowly faded into my dreams hoping that something would happen.

Anything.

I dreamed that I was looking up at the sky. It was a beautiful crystal blue and there was nothing but me and the sky, and then I was in water. I was drifting to and fro within the over-lapping waves of the Caribbean blue waters as waters flooded throughout the roots of my hair and my limbs floated gracefully under the water, only to break surface moments later and receive contact with the warm air.

Then I was fading.

Water was running through my head and my veins as my arms shifted into an aqueous form and I melted within the waves. My body had suddenly transfigured into a transparent crystal blue substance that was found indifferent to the remainder of the ocean.

The water and I were one for only a brief moment...

I shot up when my head hit concrete and I opened my eyes to nothingness...darkness.

I lay appalled as my wet hair draped itself in clumps around my shoulders and my face felt freshly removed from a basin.

I was completely drenched in water, but had somehow managed to liquify myself and land on the next level of the parking garage.

I didn't fully understand my powers quite yet, but if I was capable of putting something as intricate as that into play, then I could surely use this.

I started to look around, feeling the uncomfortable rustle of the files under my shirt with no avail in finding an exit. It was completely dark and all I could hear was the sound of thunder above me and footsteps slowly deteriorating, no, approaching.
