       ~This is chapter 19 in Ace's POV~

*ACE'S POV*

"You're awfully early," I stated looking at Seven who was sitting in the office chair chewing on a slim Jim.

"I didn't have anything to do today so I came in before I had to and decided to lounge around and eat our food."

"It's not like it has any nutritional value in regards to us, go ahead," I said before sitting down in the other chair in the office and turning on the computer.

"Cora never said whether or not she found any battle plans, did she?" I questioned, scrolling through the files on the computer that we now had access to and clicking on a folder entitled 'Genesis'.

"Nope, she finished up her job here and then left without saying a word to me. She seemed kind of frustrated, so I'm going to take a guess and assume she didn't find anything," he said throwing his slim Jim wrapped in the trash.

"Fantastic. We've been after this for a while and what have we found? Two martial arts experts and thousands of rookies. This isn't going anywhere!" I yelled throwing a rock from the floor at the computer and cracking the screen.

"You need to calm down, Ace," Seven whispered, sitting up straight in his chair.

"I can't. This war could happen at any moment and we aren't the slightest bit prepared, Seven! We've been training these people for weeks and they aren't ready and they'll-"

"Never be ready! No one is ready to walk onto a battlefield prepared to throw their life away for the greater good, Ace. No one can ever be physically or mentally prepared enough for that, but we can keep working and we can keep telling them what we are telling them, but we can't perfect them. They aren't objects; they're people and people make mistakes and people aren't perfect, so no, they aren't going to be ready but neither am I, nor you, nor Cora, nor Cam, nor Danalrie, nor Kara! Got that?"

I froze in my tracks and ducked my head down, resting my elbows on my legs and folding my hands together.

You need to train her...

"I'm sorry. Being the leader of something this big is a once in a lifetime opportunity, but it also requires the will of a million men and I'm just one vampire. It's a lot of pressure to put on someone and I'm slowly starting to crack beneath it. You'd be way more cut out for this than I am, Seven."

"Don't say stuff like that," He said lifting my head up with his hand and staring me in the eyes. "We're in this together, but I can't function without you. You're acting the way any good leader would and you're doing a bang up job especially for someone so young. I'd rather the pressure beat you up rather than you best up yourself, so get up and go and tell our trainees what you want them to do and don't stop telling them till they get it right and don't give up or give in, just get out and do it."

I smiled at him and stood up, about to set up the training room when Seven grabbed my arm.

"What?"

"Look at the computer."

I turned around and was shocked to see that the file folder that I'd opened was full of other folders, many more than any of the ones Cora had recorded so far.
