*ACE'S POV*

"I'm going to fail this stupid test!" I muttered throwing my study guide in the floor and shoving my face in my pillow while Kara chuckled on the bed beside me.

"You're going to do fine, Ace. I promise, after all if I couldn't do this much for you, then what kind of butler would I be?"

"Black Butler, right?" I said picking up the papers I had thrown in the floor.

"Yeah, you nailed it," she said shutting her history book and getting down on the floor to help me pick up the papers that I had thrown and handing them to me one by one.

She's so cute.

"You think I'm cute?"

I looked up in shock and she looked just as shocked as I was.

"You spoke to me in your head. I heard it."

"I heard your thoughts. What is this?" she said handing over the last of the papers.

"I don't know, but I think it's kind of cool."

She smiled at me before sitting on the edge of the bed. I knew what this was. It was one of my abilities, but she couldn't know that. She couldn't know what I was.

"So, you do think I'm cute then right?"

"Of course I do, if you consider a bear cute."

She lay down on one side of the bed with her feet at my head and me the complete opposite.

"I'll take what I can get. Ace?"

"Yeah?"

"I have to tell you something."

"What is it?"

"I've been having nightmares again, but they are way worse then they were with that picture."

"Like what kind of nightmares?"

"I had a dream the other night that there was a war. A war between the hunter association and most likely the vampire association and we were involved in it. I only had it once and I haven't dreamt any further than the part where-"

I looked over to see tears streaming down her face. I sat up and pulled her to me engulfing her in a hug.

"Where what?"

"The part where the place burns down, it was really terrifying."

I could tell she was lying and didn't want to tell me, but I knew that if she was hiding something from me than it was probably for good reason and I wasn't going to question her.

"I was tearing through the hallways and I heard the screams of dozens of people, but I couldn't save them. I was too late. Why do I always have to be too late to stop all hell from breaking lose in these dreams? Why couldn't I save them?"

And in the midst of the silence I heard her utter barely audible words that I'm sure she didn't want me to hear.

"Why couldn't I save you?"

I didn't want to think too much on what she said. I didn't want to know. If what she was hiding from me was something having to do with my fate then it was true that I didn't want to know. I was curious, but the last thing on earth that I wanted to be made known to me was when, where and how I would die. I always wondered if I would go out like my parents did.

At the hands of another being.

"We never know whether or not these things that you are seeing are dreams or things that destiny is actually showing you so don't worry until something happens."
