*ACE'S POV*

"How much longer?" I asked from my seat as Cora turned down another exit.

"Four more hours, sis," Seven stated, running a hand through his brown hair. We were going to be driving all day.

I glanced downward at my lap to see that Kara was still asleep. Her feet were barely on the seat and her head was resting on top of my legs. Seeing her in a peaceful sleeping state was rather satisfying. She's had far too many restless nights as far as I was concerned. I guess that it just goes to show that ones abilities and talents can be both a blessing and a curse.

Cora pulled the van into the parking lot of a gas station just outside of a rural area that I was not familiar with. Everyone bailed out of the van and went into the gas station. I carefully slid out from under Kara's head, making a mental note to get her something to eat, although, I couldn't see myself forgetting. I clambered out of the van and went in to get some food and ensure the safety of everyone.

Everyone instantly seemed fine, but Weston and his three companions didn't seem to be anywhere in sight, although I wasn't too worried about them. They could handle themselves. The three people who were sitting behind Kara and me were named Mitchell, Orion and Eve.

All three were werewolves and they were the best of Weston's men. Mitchell was Weston's second in command and he was nearly as strong as Weston, although not quite. Orion was the fastest that he had. He had lighting quick reflexes and ran like the wind, faltering only slightly behind Seven from what I'd heard. Eve was the best strategist. She was the leader of most of their attacks and apparently it was her idea to officially become our ally with Weston's approval. Her and Cora would have a grand old time working together...that is if Cora didn't kill her first for reasons unbeknownst to me.

I glanced over to the door, seeing the image of the van through the glass doors and felt a compilation of feelings overwhelm my stomach. I was worried because I'd left Kara alone in the car, I was in a state of bliss because even simply thinking about her drove me insane, I was confused on the whereabouts of Weston, Eve, Mitchell, and Orion, and finally I could begin to feel thirst eating away at me again.

It had been a while, but I wasn't going to pry too far into my needs. I guess I'd just have to start binge-eating mortal food, not that it had any nutritional value, but I suppose it could tide me over.

My thoughts were interrupted by the weight of an arm slinging around my shoulder.

"Hey," Seven stated, "you doing okay? You seem kind of lost in thought."

"Yeah, I'm alright. Thanks for asking."

"Anytime...so you and Kara had a lengthy conversation in the van on the way here," he said with a smirk as his chest shook in laughter.

I shook my head in slight embarrassment, but the humor sort of drowned out the red that was creeping its way into my face.

"Oh yeah, I really enjoy having conversations with her," I laughed; I really do, and both Seven and I knew that, but we also knew what we were talking about and sharing our aspirations with one another in a verbal way was not it.

"It's rather obvious, really. I see the way you look at her. If you didn't enjoy 'having conversations' with her...I'd be concerned," he laughed.

"Would you mind getting me some food. I'm fine with whatever. I just need some sort of temporary fulfillment." Seven nodded in understanding as I handed him half of my money and set off with the other half to get something for Kara.
