~Shoutout to my best friend Alei for giving me the cafe's name!! Love you~

*KARA'S POV*

Amity seemed to interrupt any moment Ace and I got together. I couldn't be mad because she always apologized later. Now it's just fate being cruel.

He always use to tell me that we couldn't be together because he was dangerous, but over the fast few days, it seems as though that reasoning has slipped his mind completely.

He's so confusing.

We agreed to do research every other day for our chemistry project and on the days we weren't doing anything for the project we just talked about things. Today was one of the days where we did research.

I had recently been interviewed for a job at a cafe. I would be working and performing so I would get good money, but there were a lot of applicants and I was supposed to get the call today. It's only 4:00, but that doesn't make me any less anxious.

I lay around my room for an hour or two flipping through social media, which I hadn't gotten the chance to do in a while, and rereading How Green was My Valley for the third time since I'd gotten it until I was interrupted by a phone call which I frantically raced across the room to grab and answer.

"Hello?"

"Hi. Is this Miss Kara Harrison?"

"Yes ma'am, it is."

"Fantastic! This is Vivian from Garvey's coffee shop. You applied for a job here didn't you? Live music and help with cooking and cleaning?"

"Yes ma'am."

"Well I loved you, and I would love you for you to work for me."

"Really!? I mean, uh, thank you!"

I could hear her chuckle through the phone.

"You're very welcome. You start working tomorrow. You are a school student so come in after school and we can arrange your schedule. Do you play keyboard?"

"Sometimes, but guitar is easier since I can pick it up and take it with me. The only time I play piano is when the choir room at the school is free which isn't often."

"Well we have a keyboard just in case, but if you have a guitar you can bring then that's fabulous! I look forward to hearing you perform."

"I look forward to performing."

"Bye love!"

"Bye!"

After I hung up the phone I couldn't keep the smile off my face and I couldn't keep from calling somebody.

I quickly dialed Amity's number into my phone even though I knew she was only two doors down, but sometimes she went to the parking garage where Ace was training. Sometimes I felt left out even though I wasn't one of them, but I didn't want to ask if I could go and be a bother to him. Plus, I'm pretty sure Cora thinks of me as a distraction to his doing things efficiently. I do need some training though, maybe I should just ask Ace. Vampires are much stronger than me, but I have to know how to fight and defend myself.

"Hey girl what's up?"

"I got the job!"

"I know you had that in the bag! It sounds so perfect and I'm going there every day to see you perform. I get best friend discounts right?"
