Chapter 28

It was minutes ago since I was announced as the next alpha and Cleo's mate. And I still can't get over everything that happened. Thank god Alpha John allowed me to stay in his office to have my peace of mind. But now all I could think of is why Cleo?

Of all the people I knew why did it have to be Cleo. I can understand if it was Sam or anyone from the pack. Heck it's even much better if it were Dani or Amber.

'Stop whining there and put yourself together.'

Rogue's voice came to my head like how we use to talk.

'Hey bff. I missed you too.'

I sarcastically said to her. I know she felt my frustration because she laughed on my head. But I'm not mad at her. In fact I'm happy to have her during this times. I just wish we could go out and run with each other the way we used to.

I was so deep in thought that I did not felt someone enter the room. A low growl slipped out of me then a whimper. I'm so confused I don't know what's happening to me.

"Will you please stop? You could keep yourself locked up here forever but there is no denying the fact that we are mates."

"You don't have proof of that Cleo."

With my words Cleo came to my side and grabbed my face. Pure anger and sadness in her eyes.

"Can you feel that?" She shouts.

"Tell me Sky. Can. You. Feel. That?" I nodded.

"Now tell me. What proof do you still need? Your mind is just clouded with lust. Yes I admit. Dani really has the body and a face to make anyone go crazy over her. But you are mine. Our wolves are connected and destined forever."

Then she let go of me and walked towards the door. And when she left my wolf shouted at me in my head. She wanted me to run after our mate but I don't want her to take over.

A whimper came out of me. I could feel my wolfs's sadness but I can't just let things happen the way they are. Plus, Cleo needs to prove first that she is worthy of me. I can't just let myself go to someone I know could harm my friends.

'Sky please do come out.'  Meg's voice came to my head.

'I'll be out in a while. Why? You need anything?'

'No, its just that I want you to enjoy the party. It is your party after all.'

'Alright alright I'm coming.'

In less than a minute Meg had made me come out of that cocoon of a room. Sometimes it doesn't make any sense why we have a bigger connection with each other but I guess we just choose to not allow our wolves to take over us.

The night was full of drunk wolves and the usual horny mates. And now I am here alone at a table watching everyone party the night away. I don't mind if Meg is with Nate or if Sam is with one of the warrior shewolf as long as I have my peace and quiet.

Then this pair of soft and slender hands wrapped around my neck. Immediately I knew who it is because of the tingling feel that her skin sends to mine. I didn't argued this time. Somehow I'm done with all the childish fights. Then I allowed her to embrace me with her warmth and asked what she wants.

"You. Sky, you know it was always you. Since the day I set eyes on you my wolf shouted over and over that you are our mate. But you closed yourself to me and choose to be with that Danita girl."

Hurt was visible in her words. But what caught my attention was the overwhelming smell of alcohol and lust that's coming out of her. Then another set of shouts came for the second time in the night. Meg came rushing out of the house pulling her tattered clothes. Immediately I rushed to her with my blood boiling in anger.
