Chapter 45

It is such a peaceful feeling to be engulfed in a warm embrace. But it has always been different whenever Dani keeps me in a warm embrace. It is like she is covering me with her warmth keeping me safe and protected. But I know better and I know she's vulnerable as any human being alive. She just has a plus that not all can do.

After awhile we decided to part as she allowed me to give time for my friends. Amber came to me and hugged me as well murmuring a "I'm sorry" before letting go. I really don't know why she's saying sorry but I just accepted her apology.

I then turned to Rouge, waiting for her to make her move. But she didn't even moved an inch. "So. Are you just going to stare at me all day?" I asked. Her expression soon changed in to one that is pure joy as she let go of her mate's hand and hugged me tight.

"I am just happy that you're back Alpha." She stated in a voice that only I could hear. I chuckled at her comment while letting go of her. "Thank you for taking care of our family while I'm gone." I stated earning a confused look from her.

"You do not have the right to look at me like that." I stated while chuckling at her wide eye expression. "So we're family now? As in F A M I L Y?" I raised my brow at her while se spelled the word family as if she couldn't process it inside her head.

"Well of course dumdum! Who else will you call family other than us?" I rolled my eye at her showing that I'm a bit irritated at her lack of wit. Then she made a face as if she also was irritated. But then, a low warning growl took us off of our little bubble.

Turning around I could feel that Sam is already ready to attack but is taking too much effort to stop her wolf from coming out. “I guess you two should stop now.” She spoke in a low voice keeping her from growling. “Sam I never thought that you could be that possessive of your mate.” I commented at her effort to stay calm. “Skylar!” Rouge gave me a warning. I know Sam and I know it is not a good idea to tease her at times like this. But I can’t help it; she’s too cute to just let it slip.

I was to speak again when Dani beat me to it. “Sky, I know that I am not in the position to tell you what to do but please stop teasing Sam. I just don’t want any of you two getting hurt by each other.” Hearing these sweet nothings have made a smile find its way to my face. It is funny how she could do so much to me but still not admit it to herself. So I decided to speak in the lowest tone that normal humans cannot hear. “See, Sam I will never flirt with your mate. You and I both know who I want.” Upon hearing this words Sam loosen up nodded and gave out a shy smile.

I then walked over to her and gave her a hug while saying sorry. When we parted I gave her back to Rouge and asked them to not tell anyone. As to Dani and Amber they will need to keep quiet until they got home or somewhere safe before talking about our meeting during lunch time. “What are you planning to do?” Amber was the one to ask me the question that I hoped none will think of. But yes, who am I kidding, my friends are all smart one of them will ask the question it is just a matter of who.

“I will be working on some things. You’ll all find out soon. For now I need everyone to keep safe and I need all of your cooperation to make that happen. Oh! And by the way, Rouge I need you and Sam to mask my scent on these two. Can you guys do that?” I was hoping that Rouge had already thought Sam about masking scents. It will be a helpful ability in the future. Then Sam nodded and said excitedly. “I only have tried the masking on myself but I have not tried it on others so this will be a great test for this ability.”

“That’s good to hear. But I will need to be going now. And one more thing, I will see you both later on your training.” I then left leaving the Rouge and Sam with their jaws to the ground while Dani and Amber are looking at them with a questioning look. I laugh silently to myself realizing how I have missed them all so much. But I still have one more person to see and there is where I am going now.
