Dani’s POV
After two weeks here I am unable to sleep. At first we thought that we could at least prepare for a week before we leave for our travel back home. But as Amber had predicted, we have and will be staying here longer than expected. And thank goodness I shopped groceries that will last for a couple of months for normal humans. Then again, we are not normal humans so the groceries I bought will last for a month max.
“Is this the place you were talking about?”
An unknown voice startled and made me stand up from my bed. After that day the enemies arrived to the town Amber and I have decided to sleep on the first floor where we’re nearer the panic room. And I guess now will be a proof that it was a brilliant idea.
“Hey Ambs! Wake up! There are people outside.” I hissed at her while shaking her awake. “What? Who?!” She asks still half asleep. Slapping the back of her head I told her once again that there are people outside our home. That’s the time she got a grip of herself sleep no longer on her system.
“What did you just say?” She asked and I was to answer but she spoke again. “Did I hear you correctly?” She once again asked and instead of speaking, I nodded as an answer to her question. She then stood up slowly making sure that whoever is on the other side of the door won’t know that we are inside.
“Are you sure that there are people leaving here?”
The same voice I heard earlier once again asked to someone.
“Yes boss. He said there are two ladies leaving here. He saw one of them shop for groceries the day before we arrived but they never went out after that.”
The guy he was talking to continued talking while gesturing animatedly. Their faces are covered and they are heavily armed.
“Well then. Let’s go and check if they’re inside.”
The boss as they call him stated sarcastically to the person he is talking to. Sending Amber back to where I am while mumbling ‘fuck’ irritably. “What now?” I ask her while I try fixing the sofa bed back to being a sofa. “Well, we wait and we hope that they won’t get in.” She stated sarcastically as she helps me fix the living room just in case.
“I suggest we go to the panic room. Stay there as we watch through the security cameras you have set up. At least we have already made sure that there are no traces of us in this house for the past week.” I continued to speak my mind as we finish off fixing the sofa bed quietly. Sighing in defeat she mumbled an ‘okay’ then headed off to the panic room door while carrying her pillows.
I followed her also carrying my pillows and the bottle of water I had brought with me to bed. She opened the panic room door silently and entered waiting for me. I could hear the people outside trying all they can to enter the house so I scooted my way to the panic room. Once I finally got inside, Amber closed the door which turned the power on.
The room is actually cool with all the modern features that we had added in when we decided to put it on for our safety. Amber made it only accessible for me and her. The power is switched on through sensors. I have added two large refrigerators, which I have filled the day I went out for groceries. And it has the controls for the security cameras and security system Amber had put on the house.
Yes we have a top notch security system put on this house and it’s just the two of us. But we’re not normal people and we’re keeping ourselves safe from creatures of darkness and hunters. I should make sense to put up this kind of security for our safety.
“Hey Dani! Are you even listening to me?!” Amber took me off of my rant inside my head. Looking in to her eyes she really looked pissed but still kept her cool. She knows not to get her anger over her cause she knew I would win in a fight between us.
