Abby’s Point of View

“Abby, can you finish setting the table; I have to call mum and dad to see if they’re almost here.” Matty yelled form the kitchen before grabbing his phone to call our parents. I haven’t told anyone else I was pregnant, only Matty and Oli know; and to be honest I’m not sure if I’m ready to tell them. I finished setting the table and then ran upstairs to get ready before everyone got here. I locked my door and shut my shade; I had picked my outfit out a few nights ago so I wouldn’t be too rushed toady. I slipped on my red dress that had roses outlined in black on it. I curled my hair and put a black bow into it when I finished. I did my usual makeup but also put on red lipstick; I slid on my gold and black bracelet before I put on my ‘Love’ ring. Finally, I put on my black heels before I walked downstairs; Matty was looking out the window and I sat on the couch next to him. “When will they be here?” I asked quietly and he just shrugged. “They said maybe ten minutes?” he said and I just nodded. We both walked into the kitchen to check on dinner, the door bell rang not a minute later. “I’ll get it.” I sighed and walked to the front door. I smoothed out my dress and opened the door and was engulfed in a hug. “Merry Christmas Love.” Oli said and kissed my cheek, he spun me around once before setting me back down so I could greet Lee and Matt K. “Hey guys!” I said and they smiled. “Hey Abby, Merry Christmas.” They said and stepped into the house. “Smells good.” Oli said and I nodded and followed him back into the kitchen, “Hey Mate.” Oli greeted Matty. They began to talk so I went back into the foyer to wait for more people; soon enough the bell rang again and there were a bunch of people here this time. Oli’s brother, Tom, Lee’s girlfriend, my brother and sister, and my parents. Oh joy. “Hey Tom, Sierra how are you?” I greeted the first two and they said hello back and walked past me to find Oli and Lee. “Luke, Lucy, how are you guys?” I asked the twins and they moved away from me. “Oh, don’t mind them; they’re just shy.” My father said and I just nodded and moved aside so they could come inside. “How are you doing?” I asked my mother who just smiled and walked into the kitchen to greet Matty. Ouch, that kind of hurt. I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist and a voice tickled my ear. “You look beautiful, Love.” Oli said and I spun around and kissed his cheek. “Thanks Babe, you look great too.” I said and he really did; he had a pair of black skinny jeans on, a flannel shirt and of course his black Vans.

After we waited for a few minutes for the last people to arrive, we all sat down at the table which Matty had already set off of the food on. I sat between Oli and his brother, Tom. My mother sat as far from me as possible, whatever she is just mad that I actually did something with myself unlike her who just became a house wife that married for money. Oh well, Oli poked me and nodded; I sucked in a big breath before lightly tapping my glass with my spoon. “Thank you everyone for coming tonight, it means a lot to me and Matty that you all could be there with us today,” I began my toast, “I know we don’t all see each other often but when we come and sit down for a holiday it feels as though we just saw each other yesterday. I love being here with you all and I love you all. Enjoy and have a Merry Christmas.” I finished and Oli smiled at me. “Merry Christmas!” everyone cheered and clinked glasses. My mother avoided eye contact with me during my toast because she’s mad I never visit. Sorry I have a life. Matty began carving the turkey and people started to pass around the side dished; potatoes, bread, veggies, salads, cranberries, ect… there were actually two ‘turkeys’ the one was actual turkey and the other was vegetarian turkey- I have no idea what is in it and I don’t want to know. I really hope Oli likes the present I got him; I got him these dog tags and there’s a matching necklace that fits inside the dog tags, I know, lame.

After everyone had finished dinner we cleared the table and everyone moved into the living room, we had set up extra chairs earlier but it was still a little cramped. “Merry Christmas” Oli whispered and handed me a box wrapped in green paper with a red bow. I took the bow off and stuck it on top of Oli’s head; I opened the rest of the present and gasped when I saw it. It was an infinity sign necklace with little diamonds in it- I don’t know if they’re real though. “Thank you so much, I love it and I love you.” I said and pecked his lips. I handed him his present and he smiled when he opened it. on the dog tags I had his name engraved on the one and mine on the other. The one with my name in it had a section missing in the shape of a heart, the heart necklace was for me and it had Oli’s initials on it. “I love it, my missing piece.” Oli said and kissed me lightly. “Thanks you.” He grinned and I kissed him once more before giving other people the presents I had gotten them, and Oli did the same.

After dessert everyone was loading up their cars and getting ready to drive home. “Bye Lucy, bye Luke; call me and fell free to visit.” I said and hugged my brother and sister goodbye. “Bye dad, bye mum.” I said and they just weakly smiled at me. “Bye Matty!” they both exclaimed and I just rolled my eyes. Oli came up behind me and started rubbing my back and I sighed, thank god they were gone. “Night guys, I’m tired; the kitchen is done so don’t worry about it.” Matty said and kissed my head before going up to his room. “I’m getting tired too, I might head out in a few.” Oli said with a yawn, I nodded and walked up to my room. I slipped out of my dress and kicked off my heels; I washed my makeup off and brushed through my hair. I threw on a pair of pajamas and brushed my teeth before going to say night to Oli. He was sitting on my bed when I walked out of my washroom. “Hey, Love.” Oli said and I smiled and crawled under my covers. He got up and walked over to me. “Night Abby, I’m going to get going.” He said and I grabbed his hand. “Don’t go.” I said and he just smiled. He walked over to the other side of my bed and kicked off his shoes and took his shirt off before crawling in with me. He wrapped an arm around me and kissed me lightly. “So we’re really going to be parents?” he said softly and I nodded and he smiled. “I can’t wait, Love. Merry Christmas, Good night.” He said and kissed me once more and I curled up into his side because I’m freeing. “I love you.” I mumbled into his chest. “I love you too.” He said quietly before I drifted off into a peaceful sleep.
