Abby’s Point of View

I finally got out of work, the closer we get to the holidays the longer I have to keep my shop open because everyone else gets out of work late so they’re coming in later than usual. I have so many Christmas cake and cookie orders to fill its unbelievable. I got home and my mother looked at me, got her coat, and left. She has been watching Scarlett for me when I’m at work but she almost never says a word to me. I peeked into Scarlett’s room upstairs and she was still sleeping, thank god I have some time to clean or something. I walked into my room and quickly changed into a pair of sweat pants and a Drop Dead hoodie. God I love this clothing line, everything is so comfortable I love wearing it. I opened my jewelry box to put my necklace away when I saw a piece of paper under a few bracelets; I picked it up and walked over to my bed to read it.

Ello Love, so I see you’ve found one of my letters, I hope you’re doing well. I’m probably doing alright but things just aren’t as fun when part of you is missing. Call me soon, I love you. ~Oli

I sighed and set the letter on my bed side table. I loved finding letters from him around the house, but they also reminded me that he wasn’t here and he wouldn’t be here for a few more months. I don’t even know how long he has been gone for, it just feels like forever. The longer he’s gone the more I hurt. I walked over to my closet to lay out my clothes for tomorrow, but that’s when I realized I didn’t have a lot of winter clothes, I have to go shopping soon…maybe we can go when Scarlett wakes up from her nap. I looked around for her stroller but I couldn’t find it; I checked the time, its 5 so Oli might be on lunch or something. I grabbed my phone and dialed his number and waited for a few minutes for him to pick up. “Hello?” he said down the phone and I smiled at the sound of his voice. “Hey Babe, do you know where Scarlett’s stroller is?” I asked and he was silent for a moment. “Oh sorry, Love, it’s in my apartment in the spare room…and I forgot to leave you a key… umm… my mum has a key you could use.” He said and I got really nervous. “Oli, I’ve never talked to your mum without you there, can’t you call her and ask her to drop it off or something?” I asked and he chuckled. “No sorry Love, just go over there and tell her I sent you, she’ll understand. She loves you, no worries. Text me how it goes, I have to get to sound check, bye Love.” He said and then the line went dead. I sighed and put my phone back into my purse. I put my black jeans back on and slipped on my Uggs. I fixed my makeup and straightened my black hair bow. I put my ‘Love’ ring on my fingers and walked into Scarlett’s room to see her sitting up in bed holding her teddy bear and smiling. I walked over to her and picked her up and she brought her teddy bear with her, I put her winter coat on her and then carried her and her teddy bear out to my car with my purse slung over my shoulder. I started up my car and began my dreaded drive to Mrs. Sykes house. Don’t get me wrong, I love Oli’s mum. It’s just I’m nervous to talk to her without Oli around. I pulled into her driveway and got Scarlett, and her bear of course, and walked up to the front door and rang the bell. “Oh, Abby it’s you, come in darling.” Mrs. Sykes answered the door and I smiled at her and stepped into her warm home. “What do you need sweetie?” she asked and smiled at me. “Um, I need a key to Oli’s apartment because Scarlett’s stroller is there…and I called him and he said that you had a key I could maybe borrow…” I said shyly and she laughed quietly. “Of course you can borrow it sweetie, don’t worry about returning it, just give it back to Oli when he gets back form tour.” She said and handed me the key. “Thank you so much Mrs. Sykes.” I said and readjusted Scarlett on my hip. “Oh and darling, before you go, if you ever need me to watch Scarlett while you’re at work I’d be happy to come over or she could come over here.” She said with a bright smile. “OH, thank you so much Mrs. Sykes, I’ll remember that. Well I must be going, thank you for the key, see you soon.” I said and left after she said goodbye to us. She’s such a nice woman, I really do love talking to her I just get nervous.

When I got to Oli’s door I almost knocked until I realized that I had the key and he wasn’t home. I walked into the spare room and grabbed the stroller and put Scarlett into the seat and rolled the stroller into the living room area. “Wait here for one second little babe.” I said to her and ran into the bathroom. I needed a brush or a comb, it is so windy outside my hair is fucked. I opened a few drawers and didn’t find one. I opened the last one and sighed, “Oh Oli, I thought you said you quit.” I whispered to no one. Inside of the drawer was a bag of blades, some had blood on them and others looked brand new. What have I done to him?
