Abby’s Point of View
***6 Months Later (September 2012) ***
Scarlett’s third birthday was really fun yesterday, she seemed to enjoy herself and my mother came and was being really nice to me for a change. I have no idea what we are doing today but Oli told me to get dressed to go out somewhere and he is getting Scarlett ready right now. Oh well, I’m going to question it so I straightened my hair and did my usual makeup. I put on a white shirt that had a black heart in the middle along with my new black skinny jeans and white Toms. I looped a studded belt through my jeans and slid on some jewelry. I walked out of my room and went downstairs to see Oli dressed in a Drop Dead hoodie, black jeans, and black converse. Scarlett was in his arms and she was wearing one of her pink dresses and black dress shoes. “Oli, where are we going?” I asked him as we walked out to his car. “To see an old friend.” He simply said and I nodded and didn’t ask anything more.
After twenty minutes we pulled into a cemetery and Oli killed the engine and looked over to me, “You don’t mind, do you?” he asked and I shook my head no. he nodded and then got out of the car and took Scarlett out of her seat and I got out too. He grabbed my hand as we walked through the cemetery. We arrived at a big oak tree with a single tomb stone a few feet from it; Oli sat down near the trunk of the oak tree and then motioned for me to sit next to him. I sat down and Scarlett was sitting in his lap, he brushed some leaves off of the tomb stone. “Hey Maxy, I don’t remember if I ever introduced her, but this is my fiancé Abby and my three year old daughter Scarlett.” He began and I just studied all of the emotion in his face. “We are getting married in less than a month and its so nerve wrecking, and without you here it’s even worse; you would’ve been the best best-man I could ever ask for and I can’t believe you left before you got a chance to be there for it. I hope you’ll still have a chance to drop by the wedding if you’re free that day, it’s on October 16th. I hope you can be there, I can’t imagine getting married without my best friend by my side.” He continued and I felt tears start to form in my eyes. “Hi Maxy, I never met you, you seem like an amazing person and I wish we could’ve met. Thank you for being there and saving Oli’s life when you two were younger, it means everything to me because he is my everything. Don’t tell Matty, but I think you would’ve been the best uncle ever for Scarlett.” I said and Oli smiled at me. “Maxy, you should see Abby’s engagement ring I got her, it was one of the things we had put in our time capsule out near your parents cabin when we were younger. We have so many memories and I can’t wait to make more with my soon-to-be-bride. Thank you for the opportunity for more in life Maxy. I love you man and I miss you so much.” Oli said and a tear rolled down my cheek. “Bye Uncle Maxy, I love you.” Scarlett said and placed her hand on Maxy’s tomb stone and I saw tears brimming Oli’s eyes as he smiled down at our baby girl.
We got home with the pizza we had picked up on our way home and Scarlett was more than thrilled, from the first time she tried it, pizza had become her favorite food. Oli went into the living room to cue up a movie as I went to pour drinks and dish out the pizza. I poured Oli a glass of pop and milk for Scarlett and I, I carried them into the living room and was followed by my baby girl carrying her piece of pizza. She got herself settled on the couch next to Oli and I handed him his pizza as I took a seat next to him. The movie began and it was Monsters Inc. the three of us went to see it in theaters a few weeks ago when it was rereleased in 3D to get people ready for their new movie that is coming out next year. This is what I love, just me, the man I love, and our baby girl, all together and just relaxing. The feeling of knowing that there isn’t a single thing in the world that is better than this.
