Oliver’s Point of View

1 Year Later

It’s been a year since Scarlett was born to the day, today is her birthday. I love her so much and she has gotten so big and she’s just adorable. She has my eyes but Abby’s face, and I’m glad because she’s beautiful and one day Scarlett will be just as pretty as her mother. Abby and I are…well I’m not sure what we are. We go out a lot together- when we can find a sitter for Scarlett that is- but we go out for lunch and sometimes even dinner. It’s really nice and I love it but I don’t know if she’d want anything more. I have no idea if she is still seeing Mason and I’d prefer not to know because quite frankly I don’t care…or at least I shouldn’t. Abby went to her friend’s wedding a few months back and I never got to see her dress, Abby’s dress that is. She was a bridesmaid but I can guarantee she looked beautiful. But tomorrow I may get the chance to see it because her friend is coming here to do some pictures around England because the wedding was in Italy and obviously she wants her bridal party for the pictures so I might get to see Abby then. I have been spending a lot of time with Scarlett because Abby has been at work…like a lot. That’s why I think she is still seeing Mason because she is rarely home and when she is she doesn’t seem herself. I wish we could be more, but I know she’ll never say yes. I heard crying coming from the bedroom and knew my little princess was awake; I ran upstairs and into the baby’s room. I picked her up out of her crib and held her close to me. “Morning and Happy Birthday Scarlett, I love you baby.” I whispered into her ear and she slowly stopped crying and looked at me and I smiled at her and kissed her cheek which made her smile. “You’re really good with her.” I heard a voice say and I turned around to see Abby leaning in the door frame and smiling at me. “Look princess, its mommy.” I said and pointed to Abby and Scarlett smiled so I handed her over to Abby and walked out of the room to go finish setting up downstairs.

“Happy Birthday Scarlett!” Lee and Sierra exclaimed as they walked in the door. I thanked them and took the presents they had brought for Scarlett while they joined Abby, Scarlett, Matt K, and my brother, Tom in the living room. Soon after my parents arrived along with Abby’s parents with her little brother and sister. Matt N showed up last and we were all there. Curtis left the band a few months ago to be on some show but now we have a new guitarist, his name is Jona Weinhoffer…he’s pretty cool. I brought out the cake after dinner; it was another thing me and Abby had done tighter yesterday.

*Flashback*

“Oli hand me the eggs!” Abby said after reading over the ingredients for the tenth time. I grabbed the egg carton and tossed her three eggs…well the first two made it and the third cracked when she caught it. “Bad choice Sykes!” she yelled and threw a handful of flour at me and I retaliated with some sugar. She picked up the frosting we had just finished making and threw a glop of it at me so I did the same and it got in her hair. “Oli!!!” she exclaimed and wiped frosting on my face. “Ew, don’t get chocolate in my hair dork!” I yelled and put some on her face. She went to put more on me but slipped when she turned around and fell to the ground, but not without taking me down with her. We landed so I was partially on top of her but she pushed me off. “Move fatty!” she said and the rolled on top of me and I got lost in her beautiful light brown eyes. She leaned in a closed the tiny gap that existed between us and our lips moved in sync, just as they use to. It felt as though we never split up, we kiss like it was the first time. God I loved this woman.

And that sort of stuff has been going on for the past year, you have no idea how many times I have thought of proposing but then I back out and realize it’s a bad idea. I don’t know what you would call us; we have a kid, we live together, we constantly flirt, we go on dates, and something we cuddle and sometimes even kiss. It’s weird and I don’t know, I wish she was mine. After cake we sat and chatted for a bit until everyone left and we put Scarlett down for bed. “Thank you Oli, for setting up I mean…” she added the last part quickly and I just nodded and continued to clean up. “It’s been one year since one of the best things that has ever happened to me was born, and it’s all thanks to you Love.” I said and immediately regretted it. I haven’t called her ‘Love’ since we split. “Yeah, I love her so much too Babe.” She said, returning the nickname then continuing to clean. “So is the photo shoot thing tomorrow?” I asked and she thought for a second. “Yeah, it goes from eleven to seven…could you watch Scarlett?” she asked and I nodded and began to plan out my schedule for tomorrow. She walked over and placed a hand on my should. “I still love you, I hope you know that.” She said and kissed me lightly before turning and going upstairs to go to bed. “I love you too.” I whispered to myself after she went upstairs. God I miss her, but I can’t wait until tomorrow…
