Oliver’s Point of View
Abby has been going out a lot since the grand opening of her café, so I’ve been home alone a lot…and now she’s freaking late, we were supposed to leave for the airport ten minutes ago and she’s not even here. I slipped my phone out of my pocket and dialed her number, “Where are you!” I said down the phone, trying to sound calm. “Sorry Babe, I’m running late. I’ll just meet you at the airport. See you in fifteen.” She said and hung up. Ugh, I hate this I have no idea where she keeps going. I grabbed our bags that we had packed last night and went to the lift and headed towards my parking space.
I arrive at the airport and went through security and all that crap before coming to my gate, Gate B. I saw Abby sitting in a chair and talking on the phone. As soon as she saw me coming she hung up and ran towards me. “Sorry, I’m so sorry Babe.” She said and pecked my lips. I just nodded, I wasn’t mad or anything, I am just not ready for this. “Flight 4328 to Sydney Australia is now boarding.” The announcement rang through the airport and I sighed and we picked up our bags. Abby grabbed my hand and looked up at me, “Are you ready?” she asked and squeezed my hand gently; I nodded just to reassure her. I knew what she meant, she wasn’t talking about if I was ready to get on the plane; she was talking about if I was ready to burry my best friend. We got on the plane and took our seats which were right next to each other; I gave her the window seat. I buckled up and put my head back, I hope I can sleep the entire flight.
Endless Hours Later
We Arrived in Australia a few hours ago and we just got to our hotel. “It’s so nice here!” Abby exclaimed and threw her coat onto the bed in our room, “What time does it start?” she asked and walked towards me. “Two hours.” I mumbled and she wrapped her arms around me and pulled me close. “I’m sorry Babe, it’s going to be okay.” She said and I sighed, she has never lost a best friend has she? She has no idea how much it really hurts to lose someone who was that big of a part of your life. “Hunnie, I know what its like.” She said and I walked away from her. “No you don’t.” I said quietly and she stepped over to me and sat on the bed in front of me. “Oli, I know what it feels like.” She said and I just shook my head. “No you don’t, you’ve never lost your best friend. You never lost someone and never got to say goodbye!” I snapped and she looked taken back by that. “Yes I do, I’m fucking losing you! You’re drifting away from me because of this whole thing! I know exactly what it feels like to lose someone you love. I’m losing you and I’ve sat here for weeks watching you kill yourself over this and I can’t do a damn thing to help you! You won’t let me help you, I’d love to if you’d let me but you won’t because you’re too fucking stubborn and blind to see that I love you and I’m hurt that you’re hurt. Think about that next time you tell me I’ve never lost someone I love, because I’m losing the only person who matters to me.” She shouted and then grabbed her bag and stormed into the bathroom to change. I knew it would do no good trying to stop her, and quite frankly I didn’t want to. I walked out onto the tiny balcony that overlooked a park; there were so many people out for walks and having a grand ol’ time. And what was I doing? Getting ready to burry my best friend, I hate this. I sat on the cement railing of the balcony and pulled my knees to my chest, I miss Maxy so much. “Oli, what the hell are you doing out there?” I heard Abby yell and I sighed, I guess she had finished getting ready faster than I expected. I felt arms wrap around my waist and she set her chin on my shoulder. “What would you do if I had jumped?” I asked after a few minutes of silence. “Jump.” She said without hesitation. “Abby, promise me that if anything happens to me, you’ll live on and find someone else to make you happy.” I said and turned slightly so I could see her. “Oli…” she began to protest but I kissed her softy and she kissed back immediately. Our kiss deepened, and she tangled her fingers in my hair. When we pulled apart I noticed what she was wearing. She was wearing a black lace dress with a red belt and several red bracelets. She had her makeup on like she usually did; her hair was wavy and had a black bow in it. “You look gorgeous.” I mumbled against her lips and she smiled and kissed me once more before she went back into our room to put shoes on. I changed quickly into a flannel shirt and black pants. I slipped my black Vans on before we got a cab to the church.
