"ABBY!" I heard my brother call out; ugh he never leaves me alone I swear. For a little sister I sure am bothered a lot. "What do you want Matt?" I called out, not wanting to have to get up from my blogging position. "I need you to help me set up for my party!" He yelled back. Still don't want to move… "I'm busy Matt! Ask someone else for help!" I yelled back as I continued to scroll through Tumblr. "Abby, get off the damn Internet and come help me set up!" He said and I heard him walking up the stairs towards my room. He opened the door and walked over to my bed, kicking piles of junk out of his way; he shut my laptop and smirked at me. "Cleaning time." He said with a devious grin. By 'help me' he means 'Abby clean the house while I go out to buy liquor'. I don't mind cleaning, but I'm never allowed to come downstairs for the party. Oh well, maybe I can tonight because Matt seems like he is in a good mood.
I set my computer on my desk and picked up my clothes off the floor. I put the dirty ones in my hamper and the clean ones back into my wardrobe. I put my magazines into a pile on my night stand; then I found my flat iron and set it in my washroom. I have my own washroom in my room and Matt has one is his. Matt and I bought a flat together about two years ago. Matt was staying in an apartment and I was at home with our parents. But like Matt; as soon as I turned eighteen my parents kicked me out. We fought a lot anyways, and I had considered running away multiple times. Whenever the fights were really bad I would walk over to Matt’s apartment; that's why when I got kicked out we decided to get a place together because we had nowhere else to go. From time to time members from his band will stay in one of the extra rooms we have. Even though they have been together for a few years I have never really talked to them, I barley know their names; let alone what they look like. I don't really listen to their music, but from what I have heard they sounds pretty good. "Hey Abby, can you do me another favor for tonight?" I heard Matt ask from his room across the hall. "I depends on what it is..." I replied, unsure of what he's going to put me up to. "Can you use your iPod and create a playlist of good music for tonight? Our 'DJ' can't make it but we have awesome speakers that I'm borrowing from my friend. And we still need music to go with the speakers." He asked while walking back down stairs. I think it's cool that he trusts my choice in music; "Sure, when does it have to be ready by?" I asked while grabbing my iPod off of the charger. "Probably six o'clock, if not then at the latest by six-thirty." He said while running back upstairs. "I'm going out to the market now; I'll be back by one.” He shouted and I heard the door click shut.
Once I heard him drive away I walked downstairs. I turned on the radio and turned it up so I could hear it while I cleaned. I got the hoover out of the front closet and plugged in to the outlet. I began to clean the living room and the front hallway. I then took out the broom and swept the kitchen and dining room. I dusted the living room and then cleaned off the kitchen counter. I looked in the pantry and noticed we had like no food. I ran upstairs and grabbed my phone and texted Matt 'Out of food, bring home some crisps and some pop. Not everyone wants to drink alcohol smarts. And maybe some cheese and crackers, because what's a party without good food?' I sent it then walked over to my washroom. I started the shower and shut the washroom door behind me. I took of my clothes and set them neatly on the counter. I glanced in the mirror before I got into the shower. I think it's time to lose some weight; I'm still not pleased with my figure. I wouldn't say I'm pretty either. Whenever I look there's always someone prettier than me. I can think I look good, but then I got out and get so insecure I wish I looked like all the other pretty girl I see. I snapped myself out of my own thoughts when I realized the water was still running. I got into the shower I washed my hair and washed the rest of my ugly body. When I got out of the shower I dried off and wrapped my body in a towel and wrapped my hair in another one. I washed my face and then looked in the mirror. If Matt is having company over I defiantly need to put on makeup so I don't look like something that just crawled out of a sewer. I walked into my room and looked through my wardrobe for something to wear for now; I picked up a pair of sweat pants and a Cookie Monster tee shirt. I got out my personals from my dresser then went to get changed in my washroom. Just as I finished changing I heard Matt’s car pull into the driveway, I ran downstairs to help him bring in the groceries. When I got out to his car he opened the boot and we each grabbed a few bags. He gave me a 'thank you' nod. Once back inside with all of the bags, Matt took inventory of why he had bought. I got out a pen and a notepad to write down what we have. "Four boxes of beer, three bottles of whiskey, three bottles of wine, a few flavors if pop, seven different flavors of crisps, four different cheeses, three boxes of crackers, and some crisps and salsa." He said as I finished his checklist. I looked over at the clock and saw it was almost two o'clock. "Do you want lunch?" Matt asked me as he put the snacks on the counter in the kitchen. "Sure, you pick what we get." I said as I put the pop into the refrigerator. Alright and that reminds me I need to order pizza for tonight. Go start the car while I order please." He asked as he took out his phone to call the pizzeria. We went to McDonalds for lunch; I just got chicken nuggets and Matt got some weird burger. We finished quickly then got back home, Matt ran to the small backyard we have. “Abby!” I heard him yell; yay more helping. I walked into the backyard to see a big tent set up, I saw Matt attempting to set up a table; I’m guessing that’s what he needed help with. I walked over and pulled the legs of the table out while Matt held the table up so it didn’t squish me. Once the table was up we started putting the speakers up; three inside and three outside. I ran wires from the main dock to all six of the speakers, making sure they were out of the way so no one would trip over them. “Abby, could help me hand decorations? I swear it’s the last thing I need help with and you can get ready.” He asked from the yard. “Sure. And get ready for what?” I asked walking towards him and a box of decorations. “For my party Einstein!” he said handing me some shiny streamers. “Oh I didn’t know I was allowed to come! And don’t forget to put to colors into the lights.” I added as I hung more shiny hanging things. We have lights in our backyard and you can put color slips into them to, well to make them different colors.
It took us about a half an hour to hang all of the decorations. Once we were done, Matt thanked me, and then I went up to my room to start getting ready. I went into my washroom and plugged in my flat iron. I looked in my wardrobe for something decent to wear, I was interrupted by my flat iron beeping- it beeps when it’s done heating up. I walked back into my washroom, I brushed out my hair again and began to flat iron it. It took me about a half an hour to straighten my hair; it’s not super long but it’s not short…so like medium length you could say. I got out my makeup and my small mirror. I began applying a line of eyeliner and then I put on some mascara. When I finished my makeup I walked back out to my wardrobe and after like ten minutes of looking, I picked out a short black dress- but it wasn’t too slutty. I walked into my washroom and shut the door; I took off my sweat pants and my tee shirt and slid my dress on. It has a ribbon near the top; the top part is sparkly, and the bottom part is kind of ruffled…I don’t know how to explain it- I’m not that keen on fashion. I slipped on some black and gold bracelets to cover my scars, I always cover them if I’m going to be around people; I also put on a gold ring with a black heart on it. And finally, I put on my black heels; I need the height, I’m only like sixty-two inches (5 foot 2 inches), tall. I walked out of my washroom and threw my clothes into my hamper. I walked over to my iPod and checked the time, it was quarter to six; people would be here soon. I finished up the playlist Matt had asked me to make and began my journey to find Matt. I checked his room first; of course he wasn’t in there. I walked down stairs to find Matt sitting on the couch, looking out the window. I smiled at him when he waved; I walked over and plugged my iPod into the main dock. “Did you make a playlist that isn’t complete crap?” he asked, but I could hear the sarcasm in his voice. “Yes I did!” I said, walking into the kitchen. There were bowls filled with crisps, some with crackers, and a plate with different cheeses on it. There was also crisps and salsa, oh and melted cheese. I looked over to the table and saw an abundance of liquor; which made me laugh to myself. He had bought more liquor than he did food. I hear a knock at the door and I walked over and started the music, the first song was “Because We Can” by Bon Jovi. I placed the plastic case over my iPod, so nobody could touch it or change the song. Matt went to answer the door; before he opened the door he turned to me and said “Prepare yourself.” And with that he opened the door.
