June's POV

"June Lopez?"

I froze when I heard the voice I so ever love. I turned around and see him staring at me, "You're June Lopez?" Calum asked, his eyes piercing through my soul. By now, everybody's looking at us, observing every move the both of us make.

Why am I friends with M&M? Ugh!

My name that I hate so much, sounds so sweet coming out of his mouth. I swear I could've fainted right then and there if it weren't for the people watching us.

I slowly nodded my head and blush came through my cheeks. I'm pretty sure he could see that and is judging me on the inside.

He slowly walked over to me and then stood in front of me. I have my head down so I couldn't see what he's doing.

Suddenly a familiar envelope came into view as he hands the letter to me. I quickly blushed not even expecting for him to read it let alone get a reply from him.

I can hear everybody whispering about the envelope Calum gave me. I took the envelope in my hands and took the letter out. I look like an idiot for smiling so much to myself.

I spoke too soon.

My smile suddenly faded the moment I saw what was on the letter.

A D?

Did he just?

Tears start to form in my eyes, still comprehending what is happening. The letter got snatched from my hands as I was still standing there dumbfounded not even daring to look up.

"Ooh. What's this? A love letter to Calum?" Mina, the head cheerleader laughed together with her posse. "Oh my God, is this a love letter or an English paper? He even graded it a D for Christ's sake, she's already a senior yet she doesn't know correct grammar." Everybody in the cafeteria laughed.

The letter I gave Calum was full of red marks. He just graded it. He graded my love letter. He gave me a D.

I just lost all of my self esteem.

"Give me that!" Michael then came in, grabbing the letter from the cheerleaders and faced Calum who still has that poker face. "What the fuck dude? What do you think you're doing, humiliating my friend like that?" "Well, if she's your friend, you should've stopped her from writing that letter in the first place." Calum answered Michael back still feeling highly of himself.

Mikhaela came beside me and tried to soothe me but it's no use.

"I would've appreciated the effort but what I hate most are stupid people. She can't even tell the difference between 'Your' and 'You're' with an apostrophe re" By this time, we were looking at each other as if taunting me, the tears in my eyes don't even seem to bother him one bit.

As much as I don't want to make a commotion, I couldn't do anything, I was frozen, and Michael can't seem to let it go.

Calum started walking away when I heard Michael calling him again. He stopped and Michael came closer to him. "Apologize to her." "What? You want me to apologize for correcting her mistakes?" Calum said. "Don't think too high on yourself Hood. Just because you're the top student in this school doesn't mean you can look down and step on every person that comes on your way." Michael defended.

"If so, I actually helped her, maybe next time she would actually write a nicer and grammatical error-free letter." Calum doesn't seem to be bothered, yet he seems so proud of what he did.

"Are the mistakes the only things you see in this letter? Thoughts and feelings are put into it, yet you chose to be ignorant and arrogant." I didn't have any choice but to step in. "Michael stop-" Both of them looked at me, "-please." "No June, I'm gonna teach this guy ho-" The bell cut off what Michael was going to say, and Mrs. Watson came into view.

"What is going in here? Clifford! Are you making trouble again?" Mrs. Watson asked Michael but before Michael can respond, Calum beat her to it. "Nothing's going on, Missus, you're just gonna waste your time on such narrow minded people." Calum left me dumbfounded and heart broken standing in the cafeteria.

Everybody dispersed from the cafeteria, but the whispers didn't. I watched as Calum walked away and I turned to my right, I saw Mikhaela calming Michael down while giving me a sympathetic smile.

**

"We're really sorry June, we shouldn't have let you do that. If it wasn't for me, you shouldn't have written him letter." Mikhaela said obviously feeling guilty for pushing her friend to give him a letter.

We are all now walking home from school, wanting to get away from it as possible.

I sighed and looked at her. "No, it's not your fault. It's kind of my fault, too, y'know? I shouldn't have written him a letter, or I should've been smarter so he wouldn't be able to humiliate me."

"You have no fault. Both of you. It's that cold-hearted asshole who's at fault. We can't really be as smart as him, we're not all the same." Michael once again retorted.

"Thank you, guys. Especially you, Michael. You shouldn't have done that, what you did in the cafeteria." I thank the both of them for being the bestest friends ever. "You're like a sister to me, of course I wouldn't let anyone hurt you, me and Mikhaela, we won't ever let anyone hurt you." He smiled at me and gave me a side hug.
