June's POV

Everybody's whispering. Everybody's talking behind my back. Everybody's making fun of me because of what happened. Calum is an arrogant ass. I can't believe I wasted all this time for him. I just want to disperse into the thin air. I'm so embarrassed.

I am hurt, yes. I am heartbroken, yes. But why do my feelings for Calum still there. I should hate him with all my might but why does it occur to me that I still long to see his face at the end of the day.

I walked through the corridors of our school and I can feel everyone's eyes on me. I went to my locker to get some things when I felt someone tap my shoulder. I turned around to see familiar faces with unknown names in front of me.

"Here, it's a present for you, June. We feel really bad about what Calum did to you, so we got you something." This girl that I don't even know the name hands me a paper bag. I smiled and took out the gift they gave me from the bag but my reaction turned from sweet to sour real quick.

A 3rd grade English Grammar Book?

Are you kidding me?

I see how it is.

They're making fun of me.

I got lost in the moment and everyone who saw laughed at me and even calling me names like stupid and dumb. My eyes start to water as I ran to the nearest bathroom and locked myself in a cubicle not caring if anyone saw me or hears me.

When the bell rang, I decided to skip school and just help my dad with packing. He told me that we already have a place to stay but I don't know where it is just yet.

**

"You haven't really told me where we're staying, dad!" I whined. We are in our truck on the way to the place my dad told me.

I decided to also skip school day today, well at least I have an excuse to be absent, my dad called my school and they were fine with it.

Michael and Mikhaela have been calling and texting me nonstop, obviously worried about me because of what happened yesterday. They thought I skipped school today because of it. I don't want to talk about what happened yesterday. Not just yet. So I turned my phone off for a moment until after moving.

"Okay okay, I'll give you clue. When I was looking for apartments, I suddenly bumped into an old friend down the road." My dad explained. "We're living at your friend's house?" My eyes went wide and my dad just nodded. I was shocked to say the least. That friend must be really kind to offer us a place at their home.

"We were really close back then, but you know, we started our own families, our jobs, which meant less time to hang out. So when I told him I was looking for an apartment, he immediately offered me to stay at their place." My dad explained and I was so happy especially for my dad. He's always ecstatic every time he meets an old friend.

Ever since mom died, dad was the only one who raised me, we have a small servo but it's just enough to sustain the both of us, my school fees, house bills and all. We had to leave some of our furniture back in our old apartment as repayment for the four-month rent delay.

The reason we were so behind our rent was because of my hospital fees.

I got hospitalized four months ago because of a car accident, and we spent almost all of our savings on medicines and check ups. I couldn't walk for weeks. I'm glad it's okay now but it's not fully healed. The doctor told me not to do strenuous activities that requires the use of my left leg.

"We're here!" I got out of my trance when my dad pulled the truck over and rang the doorbell of the house. The house is huge, dad's friend must be pretty wealthy.

I am so excited and at the same time worried.

What if they're the type of people who's only nice at first and they'll make your life a living hell, much like Cinderella.

But I'm no Cinderella.

A beautiful woman with short curly hair opened the door with a big smile on her face and hugged my dad then came a guy, who has the biggest smile I've ever seen, they hugged, too.

That must be dad's friend.

I saw my dad waving at me to come out of the truck and I obliged. I greeted the both of them and they lead us inside the house. They both showed us our rooms and then went back down to get our stuff.

I learned that my dad's friend's name is David and his wife's name is Joy. Joy told me that he's gonna ask his son to help me with my bags because I shouldn't be lifting heavy things, so I patiently waited beside the truck.

I was standing in front of the new place I will now call home. A brand new start especially from what happened the other day. From this day on, I will forget about Calum. He's in the past and I wouldn't even see him after high school.

I was getting some things inside the truck when someone spoke behind me. "Do you need help with your bags?"

"Oh, -uhm yeah, I"m sorry for bothering you, but I-" I turned around and my eyes almost bulged out of my sockets.
