June's POV

"Okay, okay, stop!" Ashton yelled from his place behind the drum set. For the past few days that they've been practicing, they were a mess. Ashton was lucky enough to be able to book their band in a local bar downtown, and they've been practicing for days.

"This is not working, you guys. We're a total mess." Ashton continued and the rest of the band hesitantly agreed. "But what can we do, man? The gig's in a month, we have to cancel." Luke responded and Michael quickly opposed.

"No, dude. That is our very first gig, we can't cancel it. We just have to practice a lot more."

"We don't even have an original, they're all covers." Luke once again talked when we heard footsteps going down the basement.

Calum.

"Dude, thank God you're here. We really need you in the band." Luke greeted Calum and responded, "I told you I'm not joining your stupid band, is this why you called me?"

"Uh-" Before Luke could continue, Calum started walking back up the stairs. "Wait, dude." Luke followed him and they stopped middle stairs.

We all looked at them but couldn't comprehend what they were talking about, "What do you think are they talking about?" Mikhaela asked beside me and I just shrugged and then shook my head.

They both have serious expressions plastered on their faces and moments after, Luke smiled and Calum annoyingly groaned.

They walked back to the room with Luke grinning at all of us. "So guys, let's welcome the new member of the Powerpuff Blokes!"

I quickly turned myself to Calum and he seems annoyed at all of this but nevertheless, I'm so happy. I've never seen or heard him play the bass before.

"Luke, no one really agreed to Powerpuff Blokes." Mikhaela said sheepishly to Luke and he just looked down, defeated.

"Woah, really? That's awesome, man! We really need a hand here." Ashton spoke from the back and Calum reacted, "Yeah, whatever, I don't even have my bass." He turned to Luke and Luke patted his shoulder.

"Don't worry, man, I'm all out here." He went to a little storage cabinet at the corner of the basement and pulled out a bass guitar. He gave it to Calum and he has this amused smile on his face.

"Okay, so what do you have so far?" Calum asked while adjusting his bass.

Luke strung a chord and looked at him, "That's it." Calum turned to him, "That's it? What the fuck was that?"

Ashton laughed nervously and said, "Well, you see, we haven't really gotten around completing a song." Calum rolled his eyes and pulled out his cellphone.

Michael had been awfully quiet since Calum came in. Does he still hate Calum? I wonder what he's thinking.

"Here, use this chords." Calum passed Luke his cellphone, "Teenage Dream? This was the one you sang with Mali, right?" Calum nodded and Luke started memorizing the chords.

"Ashton, you make two eight beats at the intro and then Michael, Michael." Calum called for Michael but he doesn't budge, he might really be in deep thought.

"5 Seconds of Summer!" We all looked at Michael confused and I spoke, "Michael, it isn't summer yet."

"No. The name of the band. I've had this name since maths class, I just couldn't remember it until now." Michael explained and everybody seemed to have no opposition to it.

"It actually has a nice ring to it." Luke said and everybody nodded. "So, 5 Seconds of Summer it is!" Michael cheered and they all cheered, too, well except for Calum.

"So what were you saying, man?" Michael turned to Calum and he instructed Michael about the song.

After about three hours, their practice ended. I haven't had the chance to watch them play because Calum literally pushed me out of the basement. He said he doesn't want any distractions because I'm annoying as fuck.

At least he touched me.

Not like that you perv!

I've been in the living room the whole time by myself because Mikhaela went home two hours ago. The boys then came up from the basement.

"God, I'm so tired!" Michael flopped down the couch beside me followed by Luke on the other side and Ashton and Calum on the other couch.

"That was one hell of a practice, you should've joined us the first time, we could've not wasted time." Ashton told Calum whilst he answered, "Well, as you can see, Lucas just forced me to join now."

"Hey! It was always your dream to start a band! What happened to that?" I looked at Luke after he said that statement. Dream? I thought his dream is to be like, you know, not be in a band.

"That was years ago, Luke, I have priorities now." Calum responded.

"Like what? Running your dad's company?" Michael asked seriously and I guess it hit a sensitive spot on Calum because he didn't reply and stood up saying, "I'm going home." "Oh, I'll come with," I followed.

He didn't respond, instead he just walked right out the house. I gave a quick wave goodbye to the boys and followed Calum outside.

The car ride was silent and you know me, I hate awkward silences so I started to talk. "I uh heard you guys play, well just the instruments not the singing, but it was a great tune."

Then the car was silent again. It was a good five minutes when I heard him speak, "Did you like it?"

Did he just ask that?

DID CALUM HOOD JUST ASK ME IF I LIKE THEIR MUSIC?

I LIKE EVERYTHING CALUM DOES ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

It took me a while to reply because I was letting it sink in. "Yeah, I actually loved it."

He didn't reply but instead he just smiled to himself. He just freaking smiled at what I said. LET'S CELEBRATE.

He drove home in silence after that when Luke's words bothered my thoughts again. "...It was always your dream to start a band!" Maybe that's why he didn't want to run Uncle David's company. He wants to pursue a career in Music.

I smiled at the thought as we take the long way home.
