Continuation of chapter 15 - this ones probably just as intense

I sprinted out of the tunnel, dropping the torch on my way. Tears spilled endlessly from my eyes, running down my cheeks, and down my neck. I couldn't comprehend how quickly I was moving for someone who held such an immobilising shock in their body. I was terrified to my core.

"Stella!" He shouted behind me, sending a sob across my body as I jumped over the fallen tree. Rain was falling now, creating puddles of water hidden under the branches and leaves.

I continued running, glancing behind me. He was incredibly close, his paces were much larger than mine, but I couldn't give up. God knows what he'll do to me if I let him take me. I'll end up on the floor like Marcus and that other guy. He cursed behind me, his hand reaching out to grab me. But I weaved out of his way, sprinting through the trees.

"Stella- please just let me fucking explain!"

"Leave me alone!" I shouted, my voice quivering from the amount of confusion and pain and terror I was feeling.

I suddenly fell to the floor, my body collapsing to the Forrest floor with a loud thud. I shrieked out in pain, feeling my ankle twisting back. And suddenly, his hands grabbed my body.

"Please don't!" I cried, trying pull away from him.

But Calum was too strong.

I kicked and flailed my arms, doing anything in my power to get him off me, but he had me in a strong hold.

"Stella, please, calm down."

"Don't hurt me." I sobbed, my body curling in to a ball as I tried to shield myself away from him. Calum's large hands firmly grabbed me, pulling me to sit up. The second he tried to get close, I scooted away from him, ending at least a meter away from him.

I cried in to my knees, my body shaking as I felt him staring at me.

So this is where he's fucking been. He's been out here, shrouded away in the tunnel, feasting on other humans. I can't fucking believe this isn't a dream... It truly has to be.

"Stel, please," he panted, staring at me from across the patch of grass. I rejected his words, continuing to try and hold a grip on reality. This surely was some kind of fucked up dream, there's no way Calum is a... Cannibal. He's a fucking cannibal!

I felt my body shake as another cry raked over my body.

"Stella, I'm not gonna..." He trailed off. "I wouldn't ever hurt you."

"Y-you're a fucking liar." I said, trying to build up the courage to stand to my feet. But now, I was truly paralysed in fear.

"I can't believe you killed Marcus..." I whispered, shaking my head. Calum instantly shook his head.

"I didn't kill him. He's not dead."

"He's dead." I cried, trying to build up the courage to look at him. But I couldn't look at him when he was drenched in another persons blood. I couldn't. This situation would slowly feel real and I didn't want that... I was happy, pretending this was a dream.

"Please just- please let me explain..."

"It's just a dream, it's just a dream." I whispered, slowly opening my eyes. It was just a dream.

"Stel..."

It was just a dream, it was just a dream. It has to be. This isn't Calum... This isn't what he's like.

I lifted my head with my eyes open, glancing around at my surroundings. The second my eyes met his, I scampered to my feet, watching as he did the same. He watched the fear grow in my eyes as I slowly took a few steps back, trying to build up the inner courage to run.

"No... No, don't. Let me explain. Please." He said, holding his hands out for me. But I refused.

I turned around, continuing to sprint through the forest again, my ankle stinging with each step. God, I was a goddamn warzone right now.

He followed closely behind, as he followed my exact path through the thick canopy of trees. With each painful step, I grew closer to the roadside which was now in view. I knew he wouldn't follow me any further than this; why would he when he was covered in another persons blood.

I glanced back behind me at him, noticing how desperately he reached for me. But I was determined to not be another one of his stupid victims, I won't go down without a fight.

I sprinted out past the trees, feeling adrenaline rush through me as I reached the roadside, the streetlights lighting up the darkness... Finally. I was somewhat safe.

"Stella!" He shouted, as I turned around again. I kept running and running, not looking where I was going.

"Stella, fucking- stop!" He pleaded as I finally stepped out on to the road. And suddenly, I heard a loud honk, headlights shining on my face. Paralysed, it was too late.

My world went dark as I hit the ground. I was gone.
