I hissed as I opened my eyes, instantly shutting them. The light shone through my curtains on to my face, lighting up my bedroom. It took me a few seconds to regain consciousness as I opened my eyes again, trying to adjust to the light.
When I finally did, I rolled on to my back, letting out a whine from the aching coming from my body. My body was stinging in pain; especially my ankle. I looked up at my clock, deciding then and there that it was too late to arrive at school now; it was half past ten.
I slowly sat up, letting out moans and groans in pain as I did so. Why was my body so goddamn sore. I threw the covers off myself, my head pounding as I slowly stood up, grasping on to the wall to keep me up. I stretched out my tired limbs, trying to gain enough stability to walk over to my cupboard. Limping over to my cupboard, I slipped off my pyjama top and grabbed a fresh jumper from my drawer. I slipped it over my head, pulling my arms through and slipping my shorts down my legs. I pulled on my leggings, walking back over to my bed. But a small note caught my eye.
I walked over to my window, my eyebrows furrowing as I picked up the small note, which sat beside a glass of water and two Ibuprofen pills. I instantly recognised the handwriting.
"If you're willing to see me, please meet me at our park, 7pm. You deserve an explanation.
The pills are for your head and your ankle, you're going to be really sore all day so just rest in bed and go for a long, warm bath. Please treat yourself well, as I won't be there to take care of you.
All the love, Cal."
I suddenly fell short of breath as last nights events replayed in my mind. Oh, God it wasn't a dream. This, most certainly, was not a dream. Calum hood was in fact either a psychopath or a murderer and I had no idea which one.
After all that we've fucking been through... It could've all been a massive ploy to lure me in- I could've been that man he was hungrily sucking on. I could've been Marcus... Oh god. Who do I tell, what do I do.I moved to my computer, sitting down on my bed as I opened it.
Surely... Cannibals and vampires don't exist. I was brought up, being told they were fiction when in reality, I had fucking touched- kissed, either/or. Real life doesn't prepare you for the real shit that goes on. They should have briefed us on vampires, they should have briefed us on cannibals, but now I have no clue as to what i am going to do.
I nervously stared at my search engine on the screen, staring it down. Was I really about to do this?
"Vampire." I slowly typed in to google, feeling my body twitch in nerves as I clicked it's Wikipedia page. Scrolled through the result, eyebrows furrowed.
"Vampires are fictional characters." I read out loud, pulling the computer closer to me. "However... In some cases, vampires had been non-fictional. There is a cult of humans, as they call themselves vampires, who travel around their country, feasting on the blood of... other people... No fucking way." I said, clicking on the more box.
"Kin Yeng, formerly known as Elder, was the first ever recorded vampire. In 1862, Kin was sent to a lifetime imprisonment after being found in his house with 36 deceased townspeople, all with the same suspicious marks around their bodies. Autopsies performed on each of the deceased, all showed that they died from blood loss and broken... Bones." I read out loud, feeling my heart rate begin to quicken. "Kin was sentenced to jail, and stayed there for another 106 years before he was ordered to death. Authorities refused to give out any information as to his immortal abilities or his specific diet, consisting of only human blood."
