I was rudely woken up from my mostly peaceful sleep by my lovers touch, his soft voice coaxing me awake. Relief was a feeling I had become completely accustomed to; one that I had involuntary felt for the past few hours.

But it was a different kind of relief when I saw those brown eyes after hours of sleep. It was this feeling that devoured me completely, my bones felt lighter and I could breathe easier whilst he was staring down at me like this. Everything felt like it was finally aligning, like everything was changing for the better. Despite the fact we had escaped from such a cruel, gruesome environment and that we probably had evil people out there looking for us, in this moment, it all felt okay.

Before I had the time to pull him down and embrace him, I was pulled up and ushered out of the car, the stranger telling us he had other people to pick up. I thanked him immensely and wished him luck before I was dragged along through the woods. Calum's hand found mine as we walked the short distance to an old, abandoned warehouse. I was weary at first, lingering behind all the others with Calum. Even he was, his brown eyes curiously meeting mine before he tugged me even closer out of protection.

"It's fine," Ashton spoke once he noticed our uneasiness. "I was in here before, it's fine. There's others here, too."

For some unbeknown reason, I trusted Ashton and Luke. I mean, they did help Calum, Michael and I escape from that living hell- I practically owed my trust to them.
That's why I followed behind them, with Calum right next to me, holding my hand and taking the lead. When we came up to the doors, a nervous kind of apprehension settled in. I had no idea what we were about to walk in to, so I had no idea what to expect- if I should brace myself for to a literal warehouse of the dying or the deceased, the vampires who were left with absolutely nothing. The lucky ones who had managed to escape and find safety.

I braced onto Calum, wrapping my hand around his bicep as Luke gripped the door. It was yanked open after a code was dotted into the pad fixed onto the wall and finally, the thick door was pulled open.

I couldn't believe my eyes the second we walked through- a massive open space with a plethora of people, makeshift beds scattered around wherever they could fit. Low chatter circulated the building, along with a few moments of laughter from the left side of the building.
Everything was unkept and messy, piles of clothes, unwashed and cleaned, in the very corner, random bits of equipment and weaponry fixed to the walls. It looked like something from a movie, a goddamn zombie apocalypse movie. But this was now sadly, our reality.

Everyone seemed relieved at the realisation that we were here, that more people had survived. A few strangers came up to greet us, but I couldn't pay much attention to anything at all, even Calum when he was urging me to follow him through the crowd. I was overwhelmed and confused by everything that had happened. Especially so, now I had walked into a literal shelter for the homeless, and that I now slotted into that category.
