"Jesus Christ, shut up." The familiar voice seethed from behind me, a sense of calm overcoming me completely. "If you wanna make it out of here, then shut up." Ashton reaffirmed, keeping his hands clasped around my mouth. I hurriedly nodded against him, reaching up to latch my fingers around his wrist, urging him off me.
After convincing him I'd keep quite and cooperate, he released his hand and pushed me behind him.
"You're a dick, you didn't have to grab us like that. I thought you were gonna drag us back to the fucking cell." I angrily whispered, reaching up to gently but angrily punch his shoulder blade. He let a low chuckle fall past his lips, tilting his head back slightly to take a glance at me.
"You're a feisty little one aren't you?" He mumbled, more to himself. "I'm sorry, but you two were in plain fucking sight. Did you really think laying there out in the open was really gonna help you get out of here?"
"We were exhausted. That was a really long climb." I reasoned, crossing my arms across my chest, feeling his hand move to my back to urge me foreword slightly.
"Sure, sweetheart. And you would've had to climb it all over again if you got caught." Ashton remarked, earning yet another punch on the shoulder, my nerves settling and leaving me completely.
"Where's Calum?" I asked after noticing we were still split up.
"With Luke. The cars coming, c'mon." He softly spoke, grabbing my arm and dragging me with him.
"Wait, wait, Michael's not out yet." I said, turning to glance back at the hole. I was pushed along, Ashton letting out a long sigh, almost as if he was fed up with me already.
"He's a big boy, he can fend for himself."
"We can't just leave him-"
"He'll be fine. I'm sure he's almost up, anyway." He interrupted, pushing me towards the car that now silently rolled towards us. It was an old beaten down car, with no doors and an old rusted down tailgate. It looked extremely aged and unsafe but I was willing to take any risks whilst working towards my only chance of freedom.
I instantly spotted Calum walking the other side, nudging Luke off him as he tried to detain him in his hold. They both looked up at us, Luke's eyes shining out of amusement at the sight of relief Calum and I had suddenly undergone.
It had shocked us to be pulled apart so suddenly after only just making it out- so we were more than relieved to find each other's gazes from across the short distance.
"C'mon." Ashton nudged me, bumping his hand into my back and urging me to move forward. I complied with his request, walking towards the car that slowly rolled forward. I spotted a stranger in the front seat, one with ashy grey hair and gleaming orange eyes- he looked between us, furrowing his eyebrows and coming to a stop.
The doors were pushed open as we finally reached the car, and I was pushed forward. Just as I grabbed the handle to pull myself in, a loud, familiar voice was heard from in front of us.
"Guys! Jesus, fuck, I swear if you were gonna leave without me." Michael swore, completely out of breath. Just as I was about to climb back out to help him, Ashton pushed me forward yet again, his firm touch stopping me from getting out.
"Get in, i'll go help him." He said. I didn't need to be told twice; I pulled myself in to the car and landed down on the partly comfy car seat. A breath of air collapsed from my lungs as I sat there, an overwhelming amount of relief hitting me in the chest. My eyes fluttered closed, head resting back as I calmed my breathing down. My shaky bones seemed to rattle a little less the second I felt Calum's familiar touch, his hand moving to rest over mine. When my eyes opened again, they were met with his brown orbs, staring down at me as if I was the only thin in his line of vision. As if I was the only thing he knew.
I weakly smiled at him, feeling my heart flutter within my ribcage, the realisation that we might just make it out of here together, settling in comfortably. He smiled in return, features softening as I slipped my fingers between his, clutching in tighter than ever before resting my head down on his shoulder. His body welcomed mine in, arm wrapping around my waist to pull me in even closer.
"It's a couple hour drive from here, so get comfy and hold on." The man in the front seat informed us. Though his words completely slipped from me, drifting aimlessly out in the open as I clung onto my lover, thanking the stars that we had actually made it out of there.
"Yeah, it's a bit of a trek." Luke's voice joined in, and I watched as he pulled himself into the front seat, glancing back to take a look at his two new passengers. "Long time no see, Stella."
"Yeah." I breathed, not really paying attention to what he said. I reached out to rest my hand on Calum's thigh, and his other hand found mine instantly, clutching onto me.
"Smooth escape?"
"I mean, for the most part, yeah. Almost too easy." Calum spoke, stroking absentminded circles around my skin, like he usually did.
"I mean, Felix is good at controlling the masses but not keeping them in. That's the thing with him," he spoke, glancing back as Michael and Ashton clambered into the car, tugging the door shut. "He's completely flawed. So many blurred lines and grey areas with him, it's not hard to escape. But if you are caught, then you're most definitely dead."
"Dunno about that." Michael winced from beside us. I tilted my head to catch a glimpse at him, curling further into Calum so there was more room for everyone else to fit in. "I had seven people up my goddamn ass that entire time. Pretty sure they're the dead ones at this point."
"You killed them all?" Ashton chuckled, eyebrows cocking up.
"What the fuck was I supposed to do! Lead them up here and get everyone else caught? Plus it's seven less people we need to worry about now, so- makes it easier on us." Michael muttered under his breath, resting his head back down on the back of the headrest.
"Bloody hell... you're an absolute unit." Luke chuckled from the front seat, reaching out to give him a playful yet somewhat endearing nudge. He was quick to push him off, mumbling something like fuck you before tucking himself into the corner of the car and shutting his eyes.
I followed his lead and curled up into Calum, his arm securing tighter around my waist and holding me sound to his body.
"Buckle up, kiddos," the designated driver spoke, revving his engine and earning a few laughs. "We've got a long drive ahead of us."
