Baseball Game

I laughed as Percy told me a story of how he got expelled from one of his schools.

"I mean, it's not like I wanted to twist her ankle... It sorta just happened." He said.

"Ok, let me get this straight." I said, catching my breath. "You were mad for getting bad on a test, so you pushed the teacher down the stairs?" Percy scratched the back of his neck. "Yeah, pretty much." He said. I laughed again. I loved hanging out with Percy. Besides Thalia, he was my best friend. He was one of the sweetest guys I had ever met. For my birthday-which was today- he took me out to see my favourite baseball team play- the New York Yankees. I was completely aware of the fact that our faces were only a few inches apart. It made me remember the time that we had almost kissed during a capture the flag game. I was wearing my invisibility cap, sneaking across around while everyone fought. Unfortunately, Percy ran into me and my cap went flying off. He landed on me- and I swear, it was the most awkward moment of my life. Anyway, back to the present. The game was scheduled to start in a couple minutes, when a voice came over the intercom.

"Alright, everyone! Before the game starts, we're going to do the usual kiss cam!" The man said. A huge camera went around the crowd, landing on random couples.

"Kiss cams are always the best!" Percy said as an old couple appeared on the big screen. After a few more, two familiar faces appeared on the screen. I caught my breath and dug my fingernails into the seat.

"Hey... That guy on the screen is hot!" Percy said, laughing.

"Percy, that's you. We're on the kiss cam!" I said. Everyone in the crowd was chanting, "kiss! Kiss! Kiss!" Percy looked at me with a smirk tugging at his lips. I didn't know what to do. I couldn't kiss Percy! He was my best friend! The chanting got louder, and some people even started booing after a couple of seconds. Percy kept looking at me. Finally I cracked a smile.

"Oh, what the heck! Come here." I laughed. Percy leaned in and I cupped my hand to his cheek, and we kissed. The whole crowd cooed, "Aw!" I felt myself blushing. We even kept kissing after the camera turned away from us. We eventually broke apart when a man behind us yelled, "Break it up, lovebirds!" Percy and I pulled away, blushing like mad. As the game started, I felt Percy's hand slip into mine. I turned my head to look at him, but he saw staring straight ahead. I leaned over and planted a quick peck on his cheek. I'm pretty sure that he was blushing even more than me.
